Description
the soundtrack to Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett's stage adaptation of the 16th century Chinese classic 'Journey To The West'. i've been dying to get this since i saw the show in 2007, but sadly this is not direct recording of the musical. it's a very inspired piece of work though, and a must listen if you're a Gorillaz/Damon Albarn fan. i'll keep my fingers crossed for a dvd release.

Limited Collector's two disc (CD + PAL/Region 0 DVD) edition of her 2008 live set includes the CD and DVD in a special CD-book packaging of 100 pages (golden print on the cover) and 90 exclusive pictures.
I wouldn't call myself a hardcore Vanessa Paradis fan, but this gorgeous collector edition caught my eye, and i don't regret my purchase! Especially enjoyed the DVD, half-concert half documentary, featuring interesting interviews and behind the scenes images. For those not speaking french, english sub are included!

"A Mouthful" is the debut album from Franco-Finnish duo The Dø (Dan Levy & Olivia B. Merilahti) and a massive hit in many european countries right now, thanks to the single "On My Shoulders". Mixing folk, rock, experimental and even rap, this record is simply brilliant -- I'm always a bit sceptical about so-called "trendy" bands, but here it's totally justified. Shouldn't be long before the album gets released in the US/Canada.

If i had to keep only 2 CD's in my Cure collection (gosh, so hard!), i'd definitely pick "Staring At The Sea" and "Galore", which contain all the singles released by the band from 78 to 97. The Greatest Hits album is good, don't get me wrong, but it's missing classics such as "Charlotte Sometimes", "A Letter to Elise" and "Fascination Street". These are excellent to discover their music too.

Joy Division only existed for 4 years, but their music continues to influence bands to this day. Description
Ask anyone who's seen French singer/songwriter Cali in concert and they'll all say the same thing: "what a blast!". Recorded in 2006, this CD only gives a glimpse of the magnetism he radiates live. As of 2008, his shows have taken a more 'political' side (for reminder, he was a big supporter of Segolene Royal during the Presidential Elections), which annoys me a bit.

Ozark Henry - The Sailor Not the Sea

Fourth album from belgian musician Piet Goddaer (a.k.a. Ozark Henry), contains hits such as "Indian Summer", "Vespertine" and the very Coldplay-ish "At Sea". A true revelation when i first heard it back in 2004, his warm voice and piano-driven songs have accompanied me since then. Probably his best record to date. Favorites: "Indian Summer", "Give Yourself a Chance With Me", "At Sea", "Free Haven". Strongly recommended for starters.

This is the musical debut from M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel, paired together by director Martin Hayens to perform the Richard and Linda Thompson tune "When I Get To The Border" for his film "The Go-Getter". Their match sparked the idea for "Volume One".
forget your suspicions about "actresses turn singers" - Zooey Deschanel can sing, very well in fact. definitely a good, refreshing surprise!
