About this list:
I never had the same kind of book list or supply list as my other friends because I went to art school! I would not have had it any other way. This is a list of the items I needed the most when I started in graphic design.

Pantone Color Guide Essentials Kits
First to recommend
Description
I heart these Pantone color guides. With these guides you will get the exact color you want versus trying to guesstimate on from your computer screen... we all know how inaccurate and frustrating that can be.
At $280 it's somewhat of an investment but totally worth it if you're in design.

X-Acto Knives

Description
It's safe to say I have a cut myself a handful of times with an x-acto knife but I couldn't have survived art school without them. Definitely an essential.

I've been a big fan of tracing paper my whole life. I love tracing separate items and combining the sheets to see how they all look together.

Pentel Sharplet 2 Mechanical Pencil
2 people recommended this item
Description
I always thought people who used mechanical pencils were so cool. I, sadly, hoped for the day I would get to use them and now I do all the time. Pentel pencils are my favorite brand.

Rubber Cement - Best-Test
First to recommend
2 people recommended this item
Description
This is a great rubber cement. Like the bottle says, rubber cement is a good paper adhesive and doesn't cause curling or buckling like other paper glues. If the glue is too thick for you, you can add rubber cement thinner. Rubber cement is applied with a brush. Supervise children if they're using it. I've gotten woozey off the fumes quite a few times.

Matisse Mix-Ins (Dry Mediums)
First to recommend
Description
I just discovered this brand of dry mix-ins that add texture to paint. They're a great tool for experimentation and adding that final to a painting.
18 different mix-ins to play with. My favorite would be the glass beads.

Letramax Superblack Mounting Board - Rex Art Supplies
First to recommend
Description
Mounting boards are a must for professional design presentations. They give the project a nice border and lets the viewer focus on the work.
They're kind of hard to cut so keep a couple extra handy.
