Clarisonic Skin Care Kit

18 people recommended this item

Description

If you think Oprah sits there an average fool, lathering up her HANDS to wash her face ... you are dead wrong. Dead wrong. She uses Clarisonic which helps her get her face squeaky while giving her a gentle massage.

Stark Waxing Studio

First to recommend

Description

Believe it or not, Stark is actually the name of the owner. Her employees want to rip your hair out of your body. Everyone I know who’s been there loves it and says it’s the least painful brazilian they’ve endured. (via LA.com)

Marvis Classic Strong Mint Toothpaste

3 people recommended this item

Description

Class up the bathroom, and your morning routine, with Italian toothpaste. The metal tube is practically a work of art (check out their ad portfolio) and they’ve got flavors like Jasmine and Paradise Fruit. And hey, it may even become a conversation starter one potentially awkward morning.

The Way We Wore

First to recommend

Description

Wear dresses all summer. You’ll look amazing. But don’t buy a copy of what everyone else has; buy vintage. The Way We Wore is arguably the best place in LA to get them. Not too expensive (relatively) and not at all attitude-y. Remember this before you go: people were smaller 60 years ago. You may have to search to find something that fits, but you will find something fabulous and flattering. (via LA.com)

Cheap Sunglasses at H&M

First to recommend

Description

I’ve never understood the point of expensive sunglasses. The more I spend, the sooner I’ll break them. H&M stocks all kinds of sunglasses (in LA, the huger the better), for like, under $8 each. Stock up. (via LA.com)

Blue Weber Grill

Description

It’s not just people with beach houses who can host a summer barbecue. If you’ve got a balcony, an accessible roof, or a bit of sidewalk and some friendly neighbors, you can fire up one of these small-ish grills and have yourself a time. The only rule is, don’t
get a black one. Show some élan by picking out a colorful grill. Blue is my current favorite.

Tropicana Bar

Description

This place was a madhouse when it first opened, but now it’s calmed down and it’s better than ever. Always a low-key scene, perfect for lying back on a lounge chair, taking in the orange glow of the Hollywood sky, and getting drunk. (via LA.com)

Alcove Cafe & Bakery

First to recommend

Description

The food here isn’t anything special, but that’s not why you came. Brunch on the streetside-but-charming patio is people-watching central. Sit there with your bagel for awhile and try to figure out why you know that chick. Junior high, or an episode of ‘Buffy”? (via LA.com)

Scoops

First to recommend

Description

Maybe you’ve never had strawberry-terragon or lemon-brownbread ice cream before. Doesn’t mean you won’t love it. This place is long on flavor and short on ambiance, so kick it on the stoop with your cone, just like when you were kids. (via LA.com)

Crane's Tavern

First to recommend

Description

You should have a backyard party with strangers. But you don’t have to host it. Just head on over to Crane’s Tavern on a Sunday afternoon for chicken and sangria. (via LA.com)
