About this list:
Throwing away your cell phone results in 65,000 tons of trash a year. That's a number to remember. Luckily, cell phones are breaking the cycle and starting to use bioplastic and energy-saving techniques to make cell phones more eco-friendly.

Description
Nokia's first eco-friendly phone! It's made with 50% renewable material and the packaging is made with 60% recycled material. In addition, the charger is energy efficient! It uses 94% less energy than normal and automatically shuts off when fully charged. The screen is OLED which also reduces power usage. Talk about evolving.

Samsung W510 ‘Green Phone’
First to recommend
Description
This phone is Samsung's second best eco-friendly phone. The W510's casing is made of bioplastic (made from corn) that is biodegradable. There's a water soluble coating and no lead, mercury, or cadmium (toxic chemicals). Unfortunately for those of us in the US, this model is only available in Korea. If, and when it does make it to the US, I hope eco-fiends will be lining up at the door for this forward-thinking phone.

Samsung F268

Description
This eco-friendly phone is like the Samsung W510 but better. In addition to being made of bioplastic, having water soluble coating, no lead, mercury, and cadmium, this phone also has no PVC and BFR's (brominated flame retardant). Even better, it's one of the first cell phones to have an energy star rating. Also, the alarm buzzes when the phone is fully charged so electricity isn't waster. Whew, that's quite a green list! Unfortunately, it's only available in China right now :(

Samsung E200 Eco Cell Phone

Description
Samsung's newest and greatest green effort (and they've done amazingly so far). The entire case of this phone is made of bioplastic (aka biodegradable). The packaging is also made of recycled materials as well. The phone was only recently displayed at the Olympics so more details are yet to come!
