Solar-Powered Helicopter

3 people recommended this item

Description

If we are really going to help this planet become a little greener, than we should probably be helping our children to grow up with the idea that alternative energy sources, sustainable management of resources, and efficient use of energy are all just common sense. Let them grow up with solar, and we will find ourselves in a world filled with solar. Let them grow up in a world filled with organic foods and eco-friendly products, and they will continue that trend.

So why not start by teaching your favorite youngster about solar with this solar-operated helicopter? The propeller will keep on spinning, as long as there is a light source, and you will be free of your AA batteries forever.

Keesco Wooden Toys

2 people recommended this item

Description

Trendy consumerism, eco-consciousness, and the triumph of parental ambitions over old fashioned childish fun dynamically meld in these Keesco wooden toys. Sort of bland, but these toys are really sophisticated in their detail and very, very safe. Have fun. (via sciencegeek)

Riding Vacuum Cleaner

11 people recommended this item

Description

It is way too hot this summer to stay inside and do household chores, especially on the weekend. And vacuuming? That's like punishment.

Instead, let the kids do it! Kristina Anderson has designed a vacuum cleaner that's just the right-pint-size for kids to ride. They'll have fun zipping around the floor on the Riding Vacuum Cleaner, and you'll have fun...just because you don't have to do a thing.

"Democrat in Training" Donkey Baby Rocking Chair

2 people recommended this item

Description

I like to think that the question of when free will kicks in is one the great D/democratic inquiries, but this rocking chair humorously undermines the topic. A liberal Democrat from rocker to grave, I still find gleefully ironic humor in the thought of a college freshman coming across a picture of herself rocking in this thing as an infant and deciding on the spot to vote Republican out of simple spite for her parents.

modern dollhouse

4 people recommended this item

Description

Now that I've opened the door to dollhouses... This minimalist version kind of dismisses the idea of a realistic living space a little more than most, but it gives a little more regard to the open play that dollhouses are (at least in theory) designed for. Do minimal modern layouts work for kids? Your call.

Minimal and handsome, this piece is also environmentally friendly, made from formaldehyde-free, certified (FSC) materials and coated with a non-toxic finish. It's also cleverly made from just three pieces.
