....who doesn't love FREE!?!?
This is a nifty little google widget from a developer in the midst of a project called The Human Calendar. Basically, it's just a little script that you copy and paste into your blog/social networking site/homepage that displays the date via real people holding up numbers.
It won't solve any of the Top Ten problems plaguing modern civilization but it WILL add a bit of interest to your desktop when you wake up in the morning. And did I mention- Free??

If you or your kids blog, use myspace, etc or if you just want a quick, free and easy way to add some fun to a digital image, check out this site. Upload a photo of yourself (or use one of a friend- print it up for a clever birthday card!) and with a few easy mouse clicks you can insert the face on your photo into a magazine cover, movie poster, etc.
Then just copy the html code onto your site or click to save the image to your hard drive for printing.

What a find this was a few weeks ago! This online magazine dubs itself a place for "imaging without attitude" and specializes in provocative photo essays. One of the pictures I uploaded above, "I'm Not Here to Save You" is from an essay entitled "Thoughts you Won't Admit To."

I love playing around with digital images. This is a fantastic site for such a pursuit. Tons of special effects you can easily partake in to turn an ordinary photo into something extraordinary. I just Lego-ized some shots for the kids- big hit.

Life "To Do" List

Description
This is how Better Me describes their list:
"The Clean Sweep Program is a checklist of 100 items which, when completed, give one complete personal freedom. These 100 items are grouped in 4 areas of life with 25 in each group: Physical Environment, Well-being, Money and Relationships. These 4 areas are the cornerstone for a strong and healthy life and the program helps a person to clean up, restore and polish virtually every aspect of his/her life. The program takes between 6 - 24 months to complete."
I actually printed this up last year and have tried to slowly but surely work through it. So far, I'm thrilled to report I have checked off "I use well-made sunglasses." Hey, you have to start somewhere. And this list is a great roadmap.

Described as "probably the most comprehensive photo-editing site on the web" (or something like that... I'm too lazy to look up the quote right now), flauntR is a veritable buffet of tasty one-click online photo tweaks like cool borders, killer slideshows, customizable effects.... and all FREE. Whoo hoo. Love Free.
Definitely one of my favorite computer catnip sites for when I want to play around with my images.....

Tvbeeboo
First to recommend
Description
from the site:
The Tvbeeboo devices (Stella4, pixlight 4.3 and 16.9) reduce the resolution of TV and computer images to 64 pixels. An optical filter transforms defined colour images from television sets into an endless variety of colour abstracts. This apparently random effect of coloured light is very pleasant to watch :
Thanks to the very low definition we can experience the simple emotion of colour and movement conveying a great feeling of well-being. Our mind is able to relax, relieved from its mission of analysing the image’s meaning, simply playing with pure colour, responding to its language (brain waves : beta-> alpha)
Thanks to the Tvbeeboo screen accessory :
- You can watch TV with a very low definition and turn it into a lighting device : « tvlamp »
- You can turn the images from the TV into an abstract animated work of art : the artistic sub-reality of the television broadcast
- You can remedy excessive tv watching
- Your mind can relax and start to experience a state of meditation (alpha brain waves facilitator)
- You can bathe in pure light energy and feed on the vibrating power of colour. *****
