Kid's films I can watch again... and again.. and.. - a list by espy

About this list:

Anyone with kids knows that movies can be a blessing and a curse. Some are just lame. Others start out acceptable but make you cringe when your son or daughter wants to watch it AGAIN. Not these. I'll watch these anytime. Truly fun for the whole family.

Qualifications:

I have listened to "Land Before Time" approx. 353 times.

What do I really need to say here? This was my favorite movie as a kid and I still haven't lost my taste for it.

Howl's Moving Castle

Description

Miyazaki's characteristically glorious animation joined to a plot penned by one of the greats of children's fantasy- Diana Wynne Jones- equals one fabulous film. It's a great blend of magic, adventure and romance- and it's pretty much strictly PG (there's some violence). My daughter and I both enjoyed this film equally- which is pretty rare- and boys will like it, too. I didn't even mind watching it a second (and 30th) time.

Ratatouille (Widescreen)

Description

Ratatouille is a rare breed of children's film- one in which the grown-up jokes are actually intelligent. Remy's quest to become a gourmet chef is deliciously fun, funny and suitable for all palates. My daughter wanted to cook for days afterward.

The Iron Giant (1999)

Description

Great visuals and a strong story line set in cold-war America keep me coming back to this fantastic fable that focuses on a young boy and his new robot friend. Get out the hankies because the whole family is apt to get misty eyed as the boy and the Iron Giant attempt to evade government agents who wish to destroy that which they don't understand. A powerful film with a pacifist message.

Harry Nilsson - The Point DVD Movie

First to recommend

Description

An acid trip inspired film that is actually good for kids! First aired as a "movie of the week" on ABC in 1971, the point is a fable about Oblio the only round-head in a world of pointy headed people. Banished to the pointless forest Oblio embarks on an adventure that is anything but. Catchy tunes and a meaningful message make this a film my daughter and I keep coming back to.
