Deadwood: The Complete Seasons 1-3

Description
This is one of my favorite TV shows. Its portrayal of the West isn't glamorized and is filled with grit, grim and vulgarity. Unfortunately, it ended way too soon. The third season's dialogue gets pretty complex at times seeming Shakesperean. So pay close attention. I'm sure you'll fall in love with the shows villain Swerringer. (via Amazon)

Big Love - The Complete First Season

Description
This show definately lives up to the critical acclaim. The story of a polygamist family (Bill Paxton and his three wives and children) in Utah. The show revolves around the relationships between the three women and the husband they share as well as keeping their arrangement on the DL (the patriarch of the family is a public figure in the community. He owns a large chain store) Also a major plot point is the family's rocky relationship with their Mormon fundamentalist extended family.
This is great TV! (via Amazon)

Roots (Four-Disc 30th Anniversary Edition)

Description
I think every black actor in Hollywood in the 70's was in this movie. This movie was huge! I remember all my classmates of all backgrounds talking about Roots and being home like clockwork to watch it. I even think this miniseries was integrated into my classes. This movie was a phenomenon. It chronicled the life and descendants of Kunta Kinte, an African man enslaved, brought to America and forced into labor. (via Amazon)
