Dig, Lazarus, Dig ~ Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds

Description

"Dig, Lazarus, Dig" doesn't disappoint, all the rough and ready Cave and Bad Seed musical conniving is there, plus a extra trust of swagger for good measure. I like it.

Girls Rock! The Movie

Description

I'm one of the lucky few that have witnessed the rock girl revolution. It was in New York City a few years back and 11 bands from "Willie Mae Rock Camp" played a amazing show. Each band featured accelerating performances from girls between the ages of 9 and 18. The youngest groups were the most punk, the older groups felt fragile, shy, introspective and psychedelic in their ocean of self-awareness. The result was awe, admiration, and the humbling feeling that ones own generation was no longer relevant. That's when I realized it was time to step aside for this new wave of artists.

What I think is noteworthy is that " the Rock n Roll Camp for Girls" is not a place where girls prepare to become artists later on in life when all of their raw power has been drained by the adult world, it's a place where girls are artists in their own right, creating recording, and performing now while the rules can be reshaped by imagination, curiosity and the original sound of youth. Un Dia: Juana Molina

First to recommend

Description

not just brilliant Juana Molina album...

Here's what Other Music had to say:

Argentinean singer-songwriter Juana Molina is an originator. A sound pioneer. She's the only artist we know that could somehow justifiably be compared to Animal Collective, Bebel Gilberto, Bjork, Beth Orton, and Red House Painters. On her fifth full-length, "Un Dia," Molina’s voice is carried like a buoy, and her distinct, animated lyrical phrasing contributes a unique percussive element to each song.

Joy Division: Grant Gee

First to recommend

Description

It's a beautiful film, all 96 Minutes are packed full glistening image and sound, the story of the rise of Joy Division is a postmodern fable worthy of the biggest screen you can find.

My Penguin: The Books

Description

Penguin Books published seven more Classics with naked front covers, which means you can create your own cover for "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius, The Brothers Grimm's "Magic Tales", "The Waves" by Virginia Woolf, Henri Alain-Fournier's "The Lost Estate" (Le Grand Meaulnes), Hermann Hesse's "Steppenwolf" and other greats which include "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" "Aesop's Fables", "The Great Gatsby", "Dracula", "Animal Farm", "Crime and Punishment", and even Jane Austen's "Emma"!!!

oh and the seven titles have been chosen by seven bands (including Razorlight, Beck and Ryan Adams) and they've all done their own covers for them.
