About this list:

Which is more surreal? The art... or the interpretation? I'm not telling. Mostly because I don't know.

Peppermints

Description

Peppermints DO look like bloodshot eyeballs. I'm inclined to agree. And from now on, when ever I eat a peppermint, I am going to think it's a big, flat, minty, bloodshot eyeball. Mmmmmmm.....

Something Fishy

Description

I wonder where that fish has gone.
You did love it so. You looked after it like a son.
And it went wherever I did go.
Is it in the cupboard?
Yes! Yes! No!...
Wouldn't you like to know? It was a lovely little fish.
And it went wherever I did go.
It's behind the sofa!
Where can that fish be?
Have you thought of the drawers in the bureau?!
Shh!
It is a most elusive fish!
And it went wherever I did go.
Ooooh, fishy, fishy, fishy fish!
A-fish, a-fish, a-fish, a-fishy, ooooh.
Ooooh, fishy, fishy, fishy fish!
That went wherever I did go.

Old House

First to recommend

Description

Some would expect it, and some might not... but when you drive all the way across the country, this is what the majority of America looks like. Sometimes there are trees, sometimes not... but you'll see thousands of these little old houses half collapsed in disrepair. Even weirder... sometimes... people are still living in them. AND THEY DON'T HAVE INTERNET!

I'm going to have to sleep with the lights on tonight.

Description

These birds are on the way across North Dakota. I saw them on a drive I took with my best friend Jessica across the country from Florida to Washington State.

A metal worker in Regent saw that his town was dying after the highway took drivers far from where they would stop through. So he made figures like these all down the road from the highway into town and people visited them. This kept the shops from dying.

After driving through the entirety of North Dakota all in one crazy night, this image was the first thing I saw at dawn... rolling hills covered in nothing but dead husks... and these GIANT metal sculptures keeping watch over the vast countryside.

Absolutely breathtaking.

pink trees

Description

"You know when it's summer, and everything is warm and pink and lovely. You escape from grown ups for a little while to hang out in the secret spot where you're not supposed to go because your mom thinks that there might be dangerous hobos there, or people doing drugs or something, which there never are. So this boy and girl are there together. Boy thinks he is going to really impress Girl by blabbing about some band he knows, or movie that he saw, but Girl is preoccupied by this dandelion and wondering when boy is going to shut up and kiss her already."

Miss Brigette may have just summarized exactly what it's like to be a teenager.

So what about adulthood?

Replace woods with bar. Replace dandelion with vodka tonic. Lather, rinse, repeat.
