About this list:
This is a collection of things I either own or want to own to reflect my casual geek style. If its techy, nerdy, sciency or just plain strange chances are, I want it.
This is:
Clocky!
48 people recommended this item
Description
If you’re favorite song is “Oh, How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning,” then make room on your night table for Clocky. Clocky gives you ONE chance to get up. If you choose to snooze, believe it or not, Clocky will jump right off your night table (up to 3 feet) and wheel around your bedroom looking for a place -- far away from your bed -- to hide, beeping all the while, before sounding his alarm again. And, yes, you WILL have to get out of bed to silence his alarm. The snooze time can be set from 0-9 minutes, so if you set it at "0" Clocky immediately "runs" away. If you want Clocky to be just like every other alarm clock on the block, and stay put on your night table, simply disable his wheels. Moves on wood or carpet.

HAL(Hybrid Assistive Limb) - CYBERDYNE

Description
Cyberdyne? Seriously... Cyberdyne? Thats the company that caused the apocalypse in the Terminator series!
and HAL? Seriously, Hal? That's the psychotic computer in 2001!
Yes, I know it stands for Hybrid Assistive Limb, but omg, how much bad karma can you fit in a name.
Yet, something still tells me, if someone gave this to me, and wanted me to put it on, I'd do so without hesitation. :)

FROGMEN VS RADIOACTIVE OCTOPUS

Description
I've seen that video where the octopus eats the shark. Even man, with his technology and pointy things is no match for a radioactive octopus.
My money's on the cephalopod.

American Nerd: The Story of My People: Benjamin Nugent
First to recommend
Description
Whats the difference between a geek and a nerd? For that matter, what's the difference between a sci-fi geek and a medieval history geek? Do Ren-fair geeks and programming geeks get along? Why do programmers (for the most part) find gaming (from video games, to board games to role playing games) so fascinating?
American Nerd by Benjamin Nugent dissects the different types of geeks and nerds in american society, defines them (to the extent that we can be defined) and then weaves a societal and psychological thread between the types of geeks and nerds to show a commonality between us.
Fascinating, invigorating,, and hilarious. Its a great book and a must read for anyone who considers themselves geeks... (or for people who know geeks and desperately wants to figure us out).

One Universe: At Home in the Cosmos: Neil de Grasse Tyson, Charles Tsun-Chu Liu, Robert Irion
First to recommend
Description
Tyson, Liu and Irion are some of the best astronomers and science communicators around today, and their book "One Universe: At Home in the Cosmos" is a brilliantly written and accessible book for anyone fascinated in what's around us, what makes things tick and the natural order of the universe.
They take complex ideas and theories and make them understandable, they reduce the immense scope of the universal physics and present it in a way that doesnt detract from the immensity of scale. A briliant book.

Star Wars Holiday Special | RiffTrax

Description
This is the movie that George Lucas will never publicly acknowledge, or release. Ever.... and when I say Ever, I mean Forever! Not for all eternity... and scientists just measured eternity, and it came out to Forever!
The star wars holiday special features wookiee life day, luke and leia singing the Star Wars theme song, Chewie's father Attichitcuk, his wife Mallatobuck, and his son Lumpawarrump. An animated short about Boba Fett, and did I mention that it also stars Bea Arthur and Art Carney?
This unauthorized (but official in terms of the Star Wars canon) video was voted one of the worst TV shows of all time, and goes from bad, to horrible, to seizure inducing to so bad it's good.
Well, it's fertile ground for the MST3K guys at Riff Trax to mock.
If your eyes dont bleed out of their sockets, you'll laugh yourself silly. (via Riff Trax)

2.5" Classic Doctor Who Talking Dalek with Menacing Dalek Motion

Description
Ever since I stayed up late at night watching Doctor Who on PBS, I've been in love with the Daleks. They're so hilariously evil, and they're shaped like pepper-pots!
Early in the series, they were easily defeated by going up stairs, now they can hover. Oh man... so cool!
Exterminate! Exterminate!

The Children of Húrin: J.R.R. Tolkien, Christopher Tolkien, Alan Lee)

Description
In the fourth book of JRR Tolkien's series of Middle Earth, the Children of Hurin continues the story of what happens after the War of the Ring.
Taken from extensive notes and ideas from Tolkien himself and obsessively collected and edited by JRR's son, Christopher Tolkien, it's an amazing book and a brilliant addition to the story of Middle Earth.

Tokyo vs. Godzilla Tshirt
First to recommend
Description
It's a good thing Tokyo has a good disaster response force, you'd think that every time Godzilla, Mecha-Godzilla, Rodan, Son of Kong, Mothra or Gamura would come stomping through, Tokyo would pretty much be in a permanent state of destruction.
However, each time that one of these monsters stomps through, then gets defeated, Tokyo manages to rebuild quickly.
This shirt identifies you as a part of that disaster response squad. The Kanji on the front of the shirt reads "Keishichou tokubetsu saigai kidoutai" literally translating to "Metropolitan Police Special Disaster Police" (via MegaGear)
