Hand dyed Shibori Purse

First to recommend

Description

This lovely handbag was createdby Auntie Uclid's Random Emporium.

Per the artist's description:
"Not only is this purse one-of-a-kind, the individual pieces of fabric are one-of-a-kind as well. Starting with plain white fabric such as muslin or recycled sheets, the fabric is hand-dyed using traditional Japanese shibori techniques, folding and stitching the fabric between dyebaths to create interesting patterns.

This particular purse measures 10"x8"x3.5" with a short strap perfect for city use. It is lined with a solid black broadcloth. The whole purse has been stiffened with interfacing, and the body of the purse is sewn together with a special 3-in-1 stitch for extra strength." (via 1000 Markets)

Please note: I batiked two pillow cases in this design and dyed them in the same dye baths - the colors are identical on both - but changed the placement of the flowers, leaves, and squiggles on each, making each one unique. Dramatic Prehnite Nugget Bracelet in Fine Silver

First to recommend

Description

This gorgeous bracelet was made by Lumina Jewelry.

Per the artist's description:
"Dramatic nuggets of soft green and black prehnite wrapped in fine silver and finished with a Thai Hill Tribe toggle.

The bracelet is 7 1/4 inches when worn (8 inches when stretched out flat). For sizing secrets, see http://www.1000markets.com/users/luminajewelry/blog_posts/3780. All Lumina handmade jewelry is shipped in a pretty gift box.

Bracelets, unlike earrings and necklaces, are made for the wearer's enjoyment as they are in view throughout the day with no need of a mirror.

Fine silver is very bright and extremely tarnish resistant compared to sterling silver. Fine silver is 99.9% silver, Thai hill tribe silver is at least 97% silver, and sterling silver is 92.5% silver." (via 1000 Markets)

Turkoman Asyk Amulet & Octagon Inlaid Beads

First to recommend

Description

Incredible, big, bold necklace from Silk Road Jewelry.

Per the artist's description:
"This is a truly unique necklace, large, long and elegant.

The pendant is a vintage silver and gilt Asyk purchased in Istanbul. It's a protective Amulet often given to women on their wedding day to ensure fertility. (Don't be concerned -that element has probably worn off this vintage piece!) It is incised and bezel-set with a lovely flat oval Carnelian, a stone thought to protect the wearer.

The necklace combines gorgeous 8-sided handmade Nepalese brass beads, inlaid with Turquoise and Coral, with rich Carnelian tube beads and a brass clasp.

The pendant measures approx. 3 1/2" and the necklace is approx. 25" long." (via 1000 Markets)

Articulation 16

First to recommend

Description

This Middle Eastern inspired necklace was created by Hearthstone Gallery.

This is another very unusual, one of a kind, creation of mine. I found this single strand of purple freshwater pearl sticks. Look closely. Each section looks like there are three sticks placed next to each other. Actually, these were cut as one piece to look like three. Matching small, round, purple freshwater pearls complete the design along with a pewter clasp and zinc alloy pendant. (via www.1000markets.com)

Pagoda II

First to recommend

Description

This earthy and intriguing pendant was created by artist, MannyBeads.

Per the artist's description:
"These Pagoda pendants just seemed to come about one morning...Pagoda structures are know to Eastern culture and landscape and the first record of the pagoda is in the 3rd century, Nepal. They were used to both house and make available sacred Buddhist relics and writings. So for me, I like to think that this bone and stone Pagoda might serve to hold for you a symbolic reminder of that which is sacred...words, ideas, believes, gratitude, lessons.

This unisex Pagoda is a simple pairing of etched bone above and natural turquoise below. It is strung on 1/2" waxed cotton cord that is a total length of 26" and the pendant adds 1.75", not including the cord ends below the bottom stone. The natural turquoise stone that anchors the Pagoda at the bottom is 24mm x 7mm." (via 1000 Markets)
