A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius : A Memoir Based on a True Story
2 people recommended this item
Description
The first time I was introduced to Dave Eggers it was through his short stories. I tracked down this book and read it and really (as cheesy as it sounds) agree = this is a work of genius. How did Eggers manage to pinpoint the stream of conscious to such an accurate and in tune degree? That has to be my favorite aspect although I love every word written in this novel

The Complete Anne of Green Gables Boxed Set
First to recommend
Description
I first read Anne of Green Gables in 4th or 5th grade and love it. I ended up reading the whole 8 book set as a result and loved each and every book. If you don't believe me, take a look at my ratty falling apart copies. The main character, Ann with an e, is so imaginative that she really reminds you about other focuses in life. Additionally, she's just lovable to every fault.

How We Are Hungry: Dave Eggers
First to recommend
Description
This collection of short stories were my first introduction to Dave Eggers, and I'm oh so grateful to that former co-worker of mine who let me pick up the book and read 1 story. I promptly purchased the book following that experience. Since then, I've reread the various stories numerous times. The best thing about short stories written by Dave Eggers is his ability to truly capture an emotion and portray in such a beautiful, relative way.

You Shall Know Our Velocity by Dave Eggers
First to recommend
Description
I want to say this is my favorite Eggers book purely because of what I interpret the message as. I'm not going to reveal that here just because every reader should be able to take away whatever they want from a book, but it was an uplifting inspiration for me in a very un-cheesy way.

The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende

Description
Isabel Allende is a terrific writer. This book takes you 3 generations of a family and through some Chilean monumental times. Allende's ability to include both interesting details and flesh out a character at the same time paint quite a picture.
