The Devil Wears Prada (Fullscreen)

Description
It's not the 'meatiest' of films, but The Devil Wears Prada is a fun piece of eye-candy. I did love the book, and I wish the movie was a bit more ruthless, but nevertheless Anne Hathaway was just gorgeous to watch, and all of the characters were quirky and loveable. Emily Blunt is up for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes this year. Comparably, I don't think she outshines her other opponents, but she certainly deserves some serious cred...she was hilarious and viscious. This is fun film to rent - even the guys will probably like it.

Hilarious feel-good flick, about the uncomfortable switch from silent pictures to the talkies.

Chinatown

Description
oooh chinatown... yet another movie my aging hippie parents tried to get me to watch for like, a few decades (also in the category: dr strangelove, godfather 2, etc etc).... i assumed it was a generational thing, like how i could never convince them to watch royal tennebaums or big lebowski... but then, i took screenwriting and i had to watch a "classic movie with an amazing script" and this was the only one i hadn't seen (hello, how about a clue that it is amazing)... i rented it, watched it, and ordered it off amazon before the movie was even finished. though its debatable, it is the quintessential LA movie in my mind, and definitely one of the top 20 of all time... so good. trust me. Bill Murray is hilarious and brilliant as a deeply OCD man who trails his psychologist (Richard Dreyfuss) on his vacation, winning the affection of his family and slowly destroying his life.

La Dolce Vita (2-Disc Collector's Edition)

Description
A totally bizarre, amazing movie about a paparazzo playboy and his women troubles, how he loses his center and becomes corrupted. It is full of symmetrical scenes containing allegories of love, innocence, corruption, God, death, America (the new world), Europe (the old), sex, sin, self-indulgence.

Capote (2005)

Description
This is a stunning character study Truman Capote, abou the tender but ultimately ruthless relationship between an author and his subject. Philip Seymour Hoffman pours it on just thick enough to be brilliant.

Here's an example of a movie I'm totally not crazy about, which I can watch incessently anyway. The colors! The familiar songs! The colors! Nicole's pretty hair! Ewan MacGregor!

The Empire Strikes Back (Star Wars, Episode V)

Description
Obviously, the whole trilogy has to be on there. This is probably my least favorite of the three original films, although many people love it because of the prominent role of Yoda. Definitely the sweetest muppet ever.
