Return of the Jedi (Star Wars, Episode VI)

Description
My favorite of the original Star Wars trilogy, in that it features Jabba the Hutt and the Ewoks. Little fuzzy ewoks! Basically, I'm a sucker for fantastic creatures, and this movie's got 'em.

Brazil

Description
I try to see this movie at least once a year, as I grow older Brazil seems to make more and more sense - it is prophetic, and gives a great sense of perspective about the absurdities of our bizarre social norms. Personally, I think this is one of De Niro's most endearing roles...he's so NOT De Niro, but my absolute favorite perormance/character/message in the whole film is Katherine Helmond's (a la Who's The Boss) role as Ms. Ida Lowry. This movie is a classic for sure, and so very very Beep. (via gordon)

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

Description
A beautiful movie about how screenplay scribe Charlie Kaufman is afraid of women. Seriously, like Annie Hall before it, it's a story about how love hurts us and how we keep coming back for more.

The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

Description
Absolutely one of the best horror films ever made. Though Buffalo Bill isn't terribly frightening - oooh, pierced nipples and tattoos! What is he, a raver circa 1995? - the tension expressed by Jodie Foster is so palpable it hurts.

Dirty Dancing (Ultimate Edition)

Description
BEST MOVIE EVER. Not really, but I've probably seen it so many times that it has brainwashed me - maybe 20? 30? More? I don't know, but it's great. Baby (Jennifer Gray) goes to the Catskills with her parents, expecting another lame summer, but strikes up a romance with a badass and extremely masculine...dancer! (Patrick Swayze) Much to the chagrin of her parents, her sister, her persnickety little dweeb of a boyfriend, and everyone else - until they see how Baby and her man shake it! Wooo-eeeee!

Description
The first installment of the Indiana Jones series, the Raiders of the Lost Ark introduces us to the most kick-ass professor and archaeologist of all time (Harrison Ford), on his quest to find the Ark of the Covenant for the US government, before the Nazis get to it first!

Description
In the last installment of the Indiana Jones series, Jones discovers his father's obsession with the Holy Grail - shortly after he's been kidnapped by the Nazis, who aim to recover the grail to make up for having lost the Ark of the Covenant. Yada yada yada, and hooray for Sean Connery! And River Phoenix, who has a cameo as the young Indy!

Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom - Widescreen Version (1984)

Description
The second in the Indiana Jones trilogy, this flick showcases what Spielberg does best - childlike excitement and adventure. With the unusual catchphrase of, "This belongs in a museum!", Jones was probably the invention of a daydreaming archaeologist. In this episode, Jones (Harrison Ford, duh) has to recover something or other from an ancient Mayan temple, accompanied by an endlessly whiny blonde (Kate Capshaw) and a extremely racist depiction of a little Asian boy named Short Shot (Jonathan Ke Quan) who's job is mostly to yell "INDYYYY!" in a panicked voice.

Description
It's rare that a movie becomes a family favorite and a cult classic, but with a fairy tale plot with twists that involve a poppy-field induced trip and flying monkeys, it makes a bit more sense. Beautiful movie, which shows why Judy Garland was a star.

Murder by Death

Description
The most obvious inspiration for the more celebrated Clue, release ten years later, Murder By Death features a hilarious ensemble cast, including Peter Sellers as a terribly racist version of a vaguely Asian detective, Peter Falk as his usual detective self, Alec Guinness (!!!), and Truman Capote (!?!?!?).
