Things Fall Apart: The Roots
4 people recommended this item
Description
This has to be by far one of my most favorite and most influential cds of all time. The CD helped brake the barrier for underground hip-hop and for up and coming music artist. It is a hip-hop CD with a purpose and a mesg. I highly recommend this CD.

Description
A rare and hard CD to find but by far another one of my favorite CDs done by The Roots. Excellent lyrics, use of beats, and great use of Jazz influence on this CD as well. A CD that packs an important mesg. And that can be listened to over and over again. If could rate this CD I would give it an 11 out of 10!!!

Description
Don't kid yourself, this is one of my favorite albums of the late 90s. Somehow, you could have never saw it at the time, but the Fugees breaking up ended up being great. After all, we got this, the first solo album of Lauryn Hill.

Black Star - Mos Def & Talib Kweli

Description
One of the greatest team ups in Hop-Hop History, Mos Def and Talib Kweli. Came together with their raw and heart-felt lyrics, a cd that created an impact on the hip-hop sound. I saw them both play together and I have to say their raw sound live is the same sound that is put into this CD.

Description
Few people would ever look at me (even know me) and guess me as a rap listener. I'm not. Mostly, i hate the genre. however, I do get slightly nostalgic when it comes to tunes of my troubles youth. Plus, it used to be catch. I mean, "Ain't Nothing but a G Thing." What a beautiful song.

I'll put it this way, my mother had some seerious problems with me listening to this when it first came out. However, it was catchy a memorable enough that I recently bought another copy of it on iTunes. When you have Gin and Juice on your computer, you play it. Trust me, you play it a lot.
