Description
I bought these a couple of weeks ago from Sodafine. Walk in LA heat and on SF streets. It was great. I love these shoes. I would have probably bought a size bigger to wear with socks or stocking. I want to buy them in every color

A great new line for comfortable, but well styled basics. I met John last month the day after he had returned from Peru to visit his farmers. He is hands on.

These are genius. I saw one up close at the store the other day and it looked even better in person. Ashley is recycling old leather jackets to make these really great one-of-a-kind bags and wallets.

I love Stella's designs and bamboo is a rapidly renewable resource that does not require pesticides. You just need to make sure that the chemicals in the process are recycled.

Description
Of all the world's crops, cotton, a 300 billion dollar industry, uses the most artificial fertilizers and pesticides. That’s 25% of the world's insecticides, which in the US alone equals 84 million pounds a year. You can also think of it as one pound of insecticides required per t-shirt and pair of jeans produced. The EPA sites 7 of the 15 top pesticides as possible, likely or known carcinogens.
Some readers scoffed when I wrote about this collection for Inhabitat, but I looked into the company's labor practices. I like locally produced things and try to steer clear of "Made in China" when I have any doubt, but there are also a lot of good factories there providing much needed work to many people, so things are not always black and white. Noir Illuminati-II
First to recommend
Description
Noir is a relatively new label tied with Illuminati-II, a textile company that will launch in 2008. The company was created to brand, market and sell high-level, organic cotton fabrics and Noir is being built as the vessel. Their first collection, Spring 2006, contained 30% certified fabrics. This has been increased seasonally to 70% with their most recent collection. The certified fabrics range from silks to cottons to wools. The certification standards are either Oeko-Tex or EU Eco Label. Additionally, Illuminati II is a member of the United Nations Global Compact and supports ILO, The International Labour Organisation, ICC´s Business Charter for sustainable development and UN´s Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Finally, the Noir foundation will contribute to secure the workers in Uganda and ensure that the needs for things such as wells and medicine are met.
