Deborah Lindquist Eco Fashion

Description

If I were to go all-out on the "green man" theme at Burning Man this year, I would definitely add Deborah Lindquist to my list of outfits to buy. I idolize this woman. Her designs are environmentally conscious - she uses reclaimed materials to create her products. This little hurdle did not stop her from creating some of the most progressive, hip designs I've seen out there. Even if they're not eco-friendly, I would still buy her stuff. Truly gorgeous stuff!

Custom Belt Buckle

First to recommend

Description

The photo is of my friend DJ Jive and his beautiful gal. They're wearing custom silver-plated belt buckles. At the last camp-out, I found an abandoned belt lying on the ground in a dirt pathway. My friend Scott and I picked it up... Lord and behold, the buckle read "Jive". I don't want to know how one can possibly lose a belt during a walk, but I guess one can be assured it will find its way back home..

I have to say. Jive does wear it with a lot of style. I'm sure he'll be sporting it again at Burning Man in a few weeks.

the Nomad yurt by ECOSHACK

6 people recommended this item

Description

Where have I been? This was recommended in July and I totally missed it? Wow, this ecoshack is one of the coolest things ever.

Called The Nomad, it is a reinvention of the real Yurt - “THE EARLIEST YURT, the 'ger' (rhymes with air), was an ancient indigenous structure used by nomadic herders on the steppes of Central Asia. A transportable dwelling that is easily dismantled, carried on pack animals and set up again, yurts are ideally suited to the main principle of a nomad's life: 'I carry all my things with me.'

Other than how to cover the air hole at the top... I think this is a great Burning Man tent. If the Mongolians were able to exist with this, I would think for a week, Burners would be able to as well.

faux fur coat white

Description

The playa gets pretty cold at night. A full-length faux fur coat not only looks hot, but it'll keep you warm too. I prefer white, though it does come back brown by the end of the week.

Artic Couture Costume

First to recommend

Description

I own this outfit. Works nicely during transition between day and night, especially dancing at the Deep End at Burning Man. This is when the weather is cool. I wear mine with white lace-up boots and white fishnets. I look a little like an Eskimo, which isn't what anyone would consider sexy... But I like wearing this bodysuit, so Eskimo it is.

Dr. Martens "20 Eye Zip" Midcalf Boot

First to recommend

Description

For the past 10 years I've been a Frye's boots fan, and I only go outside of Frye's for fashion boots or costume ones. I had forgotten about good 'ole Dr. Martens! I think Burning Man is an appropriate place to revisit this long lost love.

Great designs that can be worn as Burning Man "outfits" instead of costumes.

9-Volt LED Light

First to recommend

Description

I like the fact it's small and compact. Easy to use for travel and asa last-minute entertaining option for path lights for parties. I like the fact my 9-volts will finally get used. For some reason, I always have an abundance of 9-volts lying around. Other than the fire alarm system, what uses 9 volts? Why do I have so many in my closet? What's up with that?

Secret Black Long Gown

First to recommend

Description

I found this cool site with Asian merchandise - some are slightly designed to fit the "Western market". It has some great traditional and nontraditional clothes. The costs are unbelievable too. This coat is beautiful ,and it's only $80. I will wear this Burning Man because it's a little costumy, especially for me because I am Asian. (Too much Asian is not very stylish unless you are in a period movie.)

Italian Leather Goggles

First to recommend

Description

These are nice! Too bad I already have three sets of different goggles for this year's Burning Man. I love it that it folds for pocket storage. Lenses are distortion free, scratch resistant, shatterproof and anti-fog polycarbonate. The frames 'air intakes' are positioned for maximum ventilation.
