These really are wonderful! Most of my reusable bags are the compact kind, and I don't have a lot of these ... but these are so pretty. They're seriously strong, too. I would give these as gifts ...

o.n.e. (organic, natural, ethical) Bag from Greenone Ventures

Updated Mar 25, 2008

1st to recommend

Description

Now this is one awesome bag.

Made from 100% certified organic cotton, it's really roomy yet easy to carry. It has three generous pockets -- one on the inside for your wallet, cell phone, etc., and two outside pockets. The straps are wide and comfortable, and long to carry over your shoulder or in your hand.

The bag itself is gorgeous. The designs are lovely (I ordered three different ones, and gave two away as gifts) -- if you're looking to make a more elegant statement, this is an excellent choice. It's strong enough to use as an everyday tote, but sophisticated enough to take practically anywhere.

According to the tag, this bag can be composted or planted in soil once its useful life is done. As durable as this seems to be, I can't imagine when that might happen ... but it's yet one more reason to appreciate this bag.

Baggu | Reusable Shopping Bag

Updated Mar 20, 2008

10 people recommended this item

Description

My current favorite reusable bags -- like so many of the others, they're strong and hold so much more than a standard plastic shopping bag. These are the ones I don't forget to use -- folded, the Baggu is a flat 5"x5" square. Some of the other compact bags are a little bulky, but I stash these practically everywhere. They come in a wide variety of gorgeous colors, and I really like the long straps that can be carried on the shoulder or in the hand. Almost perfect -- if the carrying pouch was attached, I'd be a happy camper, but that's a minor quibble. I like these so much I bought extras to hand out to friends ... and I've used them as somewhat unconventional gift bags.

ACME Bags - Workhorse Style 1501, Black Mesh - ReusableBags.com

Description

A nice addition to your reusable bag collection -- my husband uses these (most of my others are too girlie for him). Like many of the compact bags, these fold easily into an attached pouch (bonus!). Being able to see the contents is great. The hubbage uses them to schlep stuff to and from everywhere ... and he uses them to carry used workout clothes and towels into the laundry room. I just wash and dry them with the rest of the workout stuff, and they come out just like new -- ready to be stashed into their pouch for the next use!

ACME Bags™ - Workhorse Style 1500 Special Set - ReusableBags.com

Updated Mar 25, 2008

Description

This is a great value -- I own this set. Strong and durable, these bags are smaller than the Envirosax or the Baggu, but they fold up into a tiny (attached!) pouch. The set is available in four different colors: black, moroccan blue, cranberry red and a burnt orange color. Availability of the colors is hit-and-miss, but black is almost always available.

ACME Bags™ - EarthTote™ Reusable Shopping Bag

These are great for your main shopping trips -- my set is black and made of recycled PET. They are very strong, hold an impressive amount, and with the flat bottom, stand very nicely for packing. The outside slash pocket is a nice touch -- many of these bags don't have pockets at all.

These are beautiful, functional and stylish. I bought some as gifts for my sister, and she just loves them. If I wasn't already awash in shopping bags, I might add some to my collection as well ...

Bottleshopper by Reisenthel

Description

Of all the shopping bags I use (and there is quite an assortment), nothing gets comments like this one. A truly wonderful idea. I own these in black and flora -- the flora is definitely eye-catching. It has a inside zipper pocket and a cell phone pocket (although it's too small for my phone) and a separate zipper pouch on a lanyard for your own stuff. I can stock up on Pellegrino and not worry about the bottles breaking or squashing the rest of my groceries. Carried over the shoulder or in the hand, it holds a huge amount without feeling too heavy. It never fails -- whenever I use this, someone asks me where they can get one of their own.

I love this -- I'm generally amorous towards all things Reisenthel -- and it's just fun to use. Get the basket cover (sold separately at Garnet Hill) -- I like being able to protect the contents from rain or whatever ...

Another gorgeous collection from Envirosax ... and the graphic design is printed on both sides of the bag -- my other Envirosax collections only have the design on one side of the bag.

A beautiful addition to the Envirosax line -- if you like Asian influences, you will love these!

I own a few sets of the Envirosax -- the prints are so beautiful! This particular set is a lot of fun -- very retro, very hip. I get a lot of comments when I use these bags, and they always get a smile! Cool graphics and lots of attitude.

Flora Reusable Shopping Bags

Updated Mar 20, 2008

Description

My very first set of reusable bags, and still one of my favorites. These are not necessarily my first choice for my big grocery shopping trips, but for errands and quick trips, these are wonderful. Easy to carry and use -- they roll up into small bundles and with the attached snap bands, no pouch to lose. The prints are just beautiful, especially the flora.

flip & tumble - reusable bags

Updated Apr 24, 2008

Description

One of the newest additions to my collection ... these are really attractive. Feather light, strong (holds up to 25 lbs.), and they scrunch up into an attached stuff sack ... the stuff sack doubles as a interior pouch when the bag is in use. Fun colors with contrasting color shoulder straps. A felt pad on the strap keeps the bag on your shoulder or gives you a comfy hand hold when carried in the hand.

What does "flip & tumble" mean? When the bag is open and empty, you put it away by sliding your hand into the stuff sack pouch, scrunching the sack into the pouch, "flip" the flap over the opening and "tumble" the bag into anything -- a backpack, purse, your pocket. It's a compact ball that fits into the palm of your hand, and it's easily squashable to fit into almost any nook (or cranny).

Very, very cute and very convenient ... just know that the bags tend to be wrinkled (because they're stuffed into the sack) so the photos are not quite accurate. I think they still look great!

Another plus -- when (actually, if) the bag ever reaches the end of its useful life, you can return it to the company and they will recycle it. More cool points.
