Holidays '08: Luggage & Accessories I Love - a list by tatorandtots
Options for This Page
About this list:
In November, most airlines initiated a hefty rate increase for luggage. Some charge for every single bag you bring with you. Others, only if you take more than one. But in almost every case, even that first case has severe weight restrictions. The penalties for overweight or additional bags can be as high as $100 so it pays to put real thought into your luggage. You need something big enough to get it all into one case but light enough to stay within guidelines. And wheeled. Always wheeled.

Giant Hermes Birkin Leather Travel Bag

Description
French, 1940's
If I happened to have an extra $7,800 scattered under the sofa cushions for a Sunday dumpster dive, I might buy this gorgeous bag. As it happens, I don't so it's all yours.....

anya hindmarch First Class British Airways Travel Bag
First to recommend
Description
I discovered these a few years ago and have collected them ever since. They would make a fabulous gift alone or as the packaging for a theme kit- ie fill with manicure tools and sassy polish for a "Put Your Feet Up and Relax" gift or even better, stop by the local liquor store and buy the airline-sized mini bottles of booze for a "Travel Bar" present....
Some time ago, Anya Hindmarch- she of the fabulous bags- designed a travel kit full of goodies that was given to all First Class passengers on British Airways flights.
Well..... those kits make regular appearances on Ebay now. For usually under $10 you can find a new, unused Anya Hindmarch travel bag to use in a myriad of ways.
Re-read that- Anya Hindmarch. Under $10. Sigh. I'm giving myself little kisses for this discovery in between keystrokes.
Use the products within for your Mile-High adventures or fill it with your own favorite potions. There are so many designs available you should keep checking this link regularly. I have a dozen different ones. All fabulous.

Heys XCASE-XL 3 Piece Luggage Set in 7 Colors
First to recommend
Description
I love Heys luggage. Just love it. Not only do they offer amazing color and pattern choices in their full line but cases such as these are extremely resilient, "popping back" to their original form when pressure is applied or they're traumatized by baggage handlers.
from the site:
Product Description
Set Includes:. 30" Upright (30" x 20" x 12"; 9.8 lbs). 26" Upright (26" x 17" x 11"; 7.2 lbs). 20" Upright (20" x 14" x 10"; 5.2 lbs.
The Xcase-XL is the world's lightest luggage set, a blend of Polycarbonate and ABS mixed into the shell makes the Xcase-XL extremely durable .
The Polycarbonate allows the shell to absorb impact by 'flexing' when under heavy stress . The ABS is then added to give the shell greater rigidity so that it will not permanently deform when under pressure but instead 'pop' back up into its original shape .
Push button mono handle system and special chrome plated inline wheels have metallic ball bearings that allow the case to glide effortlessly . The wheels have a large 85mm diameter for greater durability as well as 70mm chrome plated rims to protect the metallic ball bearings from the environment . Wheels are located on the outside edge of the luggage to provide greater stability and control when rolling over rough surfaces which would normally make your case 'wobble' .
This lightweight luggage set is definitely your best choice of luggage as it allows you to pack more . Each case has a combination lock.

Barnes and Noble is a playground for my mind. Sephora? For my body. When I visit I find all the things I never knew existed but which make the whole world seem a bit more interesting.
One of the smartest sections they have showcases all of the beauty products that are in the new airline-approved sizes for carry-ons.
Bravo, Sephora, bravo!
Perfect for a Walk of Shame land-based bag of tricks as well.

Rimowa Silver Topas Luggage
First to recommend
Description
Your success in joining the Mile-High Club is only ensured with proper planning. It starts before you even leave the house.
Your goal? To intimidate the airline through good taste into looking away as you complete your mission. It's that simple. You want to be the cool kid, the one they want to like them. Thus ensuring they won't tattle on you.
So you need serious, ass-kicking luggage. The kind that, when you roll up with it, purrs "Gentlemen, there would be far too much paperwork involved for you in the opening of this case."
______________________________
About these cases: Rimowa's First-class line with sophisticated details. Available in 20" carry-on and 36" Jumbo sizes. Exterior features integrated telescoping pull handle with locking snap-in handle levels and groove design. Aluminum. 5-year warranty.
