For newborns and babies, these art cards are printed with maximum contrast, which babies can see. As an adult, these even mesmerize me with the simplistic and curvy design!

Fascinating Creatures CD by Frances England

Description
This is awesome, awesome, awesome!
If you like a little folk, this CD is a refreshing changes from the typical children's music. You can sample the songs on her website. Light, fun, acoustic and just plain singable.
She orginially made this CD for a fundraiser for her child's preschool. (via Peapod)

Wooden toy Block wagon with 100 Red Oak Unit Blocks
First to recommend
Description
Wow! How beautiful is this? The wagon is made from Black Cherry and the blocks from Red Maple. I have been searching high and low for wooden toys for my nieces and nephew. This would most definately be a toy that is passed on for generations. (via coolmompicks.com)

Hug Trees CD by Tom Freund
First to recommend
Description
Again, another CD for parents and kids. When I first heard his voice, it reminded me of Tom Petty, but the music has more of a soft tone and is more acoustic.
His theme encourages children to get out and interact with nature, thus the songs about trees, apples and seashells (there's the occassional cake song too!)

Description
Ok, so most people won't go out and splurge on all eco-friendly school supplies, but what if everyone tried to incorporate just one or two products into the mix. It would be a start.
Leave the petroleum out of crayon to save more for our cars! These soybean crayons claim to be brighter, flake less and draw smooth.

Bee wax crayons - Organic Baby & Kids

Description
Another great alternative to petroleum crayons. They aren't inexpensive, but they are completely non-toxic and they claim they take on a watercolor appearance. This may be more for the artsy, than for the toddler. (via Ideal Bite)

Geometrical jigsaw
First to recommend
Description
I wouldn't ordinarily list a $54 puzzle, but I am obsessed with puzzles. I should clarify, I am obsessed with finding quality puzzles not made in China (this is German) and the stain is water-based. Great for three dimensional thinking. It's one darn puzzle that he kid would have to wrestle from me!
