Scribbler Tools - a list by TerryBain

About this list:

Stuff for writers. And you may ask yourself "what's the difference between this and your other list called 'My Writing Tools'?" And that would be a fair question. For me the answer is that in scribbler tools I include all writing tools that I think are worth noting, even if I don't necessarily use them myself. But in the "My Writing Tools" list? I only include tools that I actually use. Got it? Good. Bless you.

Qualifications:

I'm a writer. Wink.

Apple MacBook Pro

Description

Oh the power and the beauty of the Macbook Core 2 Duo! As a designer, it is imperitive that I have a suitable portable computer with me for work and presentations on the go. I currently have a Macbook, but the Pro would push the power to the limit. I'd wait for that!

Description

More neato stuff. I haven't seen neato stuff in a couple of days, but look at these journals. Big, chunky... and eco... everything you really really want in a cool groovy and neato journal.

Today? Today is neato day.

Frame Journals

Description

I'm a bit of a journal slut. Okay, maybe I shouldn't use the word slut here. But it's true. I love journals. I have a few favorites, but I really admire new and lovely and hand-made stuff. Sometimes I don't want to write on 'em. I just want to have 'em. To hold. To love with all my might.

All Work and No Play Journal

Description

There may be no better statement for the writer (psychotic or not) than "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" typed over and over in a zigzag pattern, just like the Jack Nicholson character in The Shining.

Here's Johnny!

Liquid Flair Felt Tip Pen, Medium Tip, Translucent Barrel, Blue Ink PAP21003

First to recommend

Description

Apparently these are exactly the same as the "liquid expresso" pens that I've already mentioned, but by another name. Why are there two names for the same item? I have no idea. But it's been a nightmare trying to get the expresso version in my hot little hands, so maybe it will be easier to retrieve the "liquid flair" version. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Sanford Liquid Expresso Medium Point Pen

First to recommend

Description

These are the pens I prefer to use when writing. Must be medium point. I prefer black. But they obviously come in many colors. Office Depot shipped me a package of extra fine, but it just isn't the same. I may order from dickblick next time. They seem to have 'em, and I love 'em. They write like a fountain pen, but without the hassle and mess. A good, solid, portable pen.

Publishers Lunch

First to recommend

Description

If you're a writer, and you're at all interested in the business of publishing, then you ought to sign yourself up for Publishers Lunch, which is a short list of news and happenings in the publishing "biz". Once you figure out if the price of "free" is worth it, then you can decide if the price of twenty bucks a month is worth it to sign up for Publisher's Marketplace, which is an online gathering of publishing pros and not-so-pros... I've opted out of the Marketplace for a few years because it didn't seem to be doing anything for me but make me crazy that I wasn't selling as many books as Aunt Matilda, and my blog was less popular than pictures of ugly dogs... but I do still get the Lunch. And frankly, you can't beat the price.
