Anywhere I Lay My Head ~ Scarlett Johansson
7 people recommended this item
Description
Scarlett Jo's debut album. Not conventionally the most beautiful voice, though it's unique and reminiscent of Nico from the Velvet Underground. The album features ten covers of legendary singer-songwriter Tom Waits as well as an original track, "Song For Jo," which she co-wrote with David Andrew Sitek (TV on the Radio),
David Bowie adds backing vocals on two tracks, "Falling Down" and "Fannin Street," and the disc also features the talents of Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner and multi-instrumentalist Sean Antanaitis from Celebration, among others.

Volume One: She & Him

Description
The duo She and Him consisting of M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel released their much anticipated debut album earlier this year. Volume One features songs with a classic pop and country twang sound. "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here" has been featured to promote the Urban Outfitters Spring 2008 line and can be heard on the airwaves on Indie 103.1 and 89.9 KCRW.
Zooey Deschanel is one of the few credible actors turned musicians that I deeply admire. Volume One is a beautiful and earnest album that truly shines with stellar vocal harmonies and thoughtful lyrics. My favorite songs on the album are "I thought I Saw Your Face Today" and "Sentimental Heart."

The Social Club No. 1 Jena Malone
First to recommend
Description
You may know Jena Malone through such work as Saved, Donnie Darko, Into the Wild, to name a few. What you may not know is that she is also a singer and songwriter. That's right, you can hear two of her tracks on this 7-inch inaugural edition of the ongoing Social Club Series, released in 2007.
Jena Malone and Her Bloodstains (title of her band) features songs that encapsulate a dark and folksy sound with stream of consciousness style lyrics.

How Could It Be: Eddie Murphy

Description
The year was 1985 when Eddie Murphy made what could easily be one of my favorite songs in the entire world. How Could It Be features the hit single "Party All the Time." Written and Produced by (I'M) Rick James (Bitch) and Kevin Johnston, this song reached #2 on Billboard top 100 during its heyday. In 2006 it was remixed by DJ Sharam Tayebi of Deep Dish and that reached #8 in the UK.
This song never gets old. Never.

Description
Take Offs and Landings is the full length debut album of Rilo Kiley. This is my favorite album from them, it features a couple of my all time favorite songs such as "August," "Pictures of Success," and "Small Figures In a Vast Expanse." An indie rock band, RK has a folksy, indie pop sound and consists of two vocalists which were both former child stars.
Blake Sennett held the supporting role as "Pinsky" on the popular Nickelodeon show "Salute your Shorts" and Jenny Lewis had many small roles in such tv shows as Growing Pains, Roseanne, Mr. Belvedere,

Tenacious D The Pick of Destiny
First to recommend
Description
Tenacious D is the conception of Jack Black and Kyle Gass. As a satirical rock band Tenacious D has been described as fusion of vulgar absurdist comedy with a "mock rock" style. Their songs often cover the topic of the duo's purported musical and sexual prowess, as well as their friendship. They are firm supporters of the legalization of cannabis, which usage is often discussed in their songs. Critics have often compared their music with the storyteller-style lyrics of rock opera. The Pick of Destiny is the second and most recent album from Tenacious D.
