I Heart Yoga - a list by BunnyShop
Options for This Page
About this list:
Nothing gets you as fit—and blissed-out—as yoga can. And while you don't need anything to practice besides a willing heart, an open mind, and a bit of floor space, these items can make a tough workout just a bit easier.
Qualifications:
Someday soon I'm going to be a yoga instructor.

Agoy Mat Bag
First to recommend
Description
The Agoy Metropolitan has got to be the most stylish yoga bag I've ever seen—it's light-years from those ubiquitous purple canvas bags. It's cherry-red and looks like patent leather, but Agoy's completely animal-friendly and everything's safely faux leather. It's the sort of yoga bag you wouldn't be horrified to take with you out to post-class drinks. Also available in an equally nice yellow and a rather classic black.

Bamboo Yoga Block (eco-friendly!)

Description
I actually used to own foam yoga blocks—which now reads like an environmental crime one step short of actually clubbing the baby seals. Needless to say, bamboo is slightly more of a renewable resource than—ahem—foam, so bamboo it is. Perfect for yoga aficionados—like me—who love to practice despite the reality of what appears to be a lifetime of tight hamstrings.

Juniper Ridge Sweetgrass Incense

Description
I used to hate how yoga studios smelled ... and then all of a sudden I found myself trying to recreate it at home. Not the yucky mat—er, top note, but that light, lovely incense you'll find in some of the more progressive studios. Juniper Range makes a fabulous selection of natural ones—their Douglas fir option, in fact, smells so natural that a friend came over after I'd been burning it and asked why my apartment smelled like a campfire. And so I now prefer the slightly more subtle sweetgrass variety.

Yoga Body, Buddha Mind

Description
I'm curious about Buddhism even if I'm not quite ready to abandon the religious teachings I grew up with—this book, by Om Yoga's Cyndi Lee, is a great introduction to a subject I'm looking forward to studying more in the future.

Me & Ro Devotion Necklace
First to recommend
Description
When I'm looking for a necklace, I'll usually hit up Forever 21 or H&M first—I lose everything, so I might as well lose things that cost less than $25, and both those stores have a huge selection. I dream, though, of investing in something just a bit special, and this sterling silver Me & Ro necklace could definitely be it: the main charm has the Sanskrit word for "devotion" inscribed on it. I know a (tiny!) bit of Sanskrit from chanting in yoga class, but I love the way the word is sort of a mystery here—I don't know many people who'd recognize what it means, so it's like this private reminder of what's really important.

Molton Brown Seamoss shower gel
First to recommend
Description
Triyoga, my favorite yoga studio in London, provides Molton Brown products free in their amazingly gorgeous changing rooms. Whenever I smell it, I'm immediately reminded of that totally awesome post-workout vibe. Bonus: It's not cheap, but my current bottle has lasted for months—it's super concentrated and a little goes a sufficiently long way.

Earth's Power Yoga Podcasts
First to recommend
Description
I travel almost all the time, so it's crucial for me to have a yoga class I can take with me—plus, audio classes are a lot cheaper than the live version, and I hate gambling $20 on an unfamiliar class with a new teacher when I'm just in town briefly. I survive on audio classes—and these, from Earth's Power yoga in LA, are the best I've ever heard. They're unbelievably hard—they bill the classes as the "world's toughest" and I believe it. Best of all, there's a huge selection to choose from—my favorite is the "very intense" backbend set.

Gaiam Yoga Boy Shorts
First to recommend
Description
Most of my classes are heated, and leggings are just too hot to deal with—but loose shorts can be a bit of a disaster. (I once had a teacher who pointed at me and yelled, "I can see your underwear!" Never went back to that class.) These look revealing but they're much more modest, when you're upside-down, than baggy running shorts.

Havaianas Fresh Sandals
First to recommend
Description
Three times I've gone to the yoga studio with my plain, black Havaianas—and three times I've come out of class to discover that someone has inadvertently swapped hers for mine. The only solution: Havaiana's that don't look like everybody else's.

Fit Couture Cami
First to recommend
Description
I used to spend as little as possible on yoga tops, but I wore through them so quickly that I was actually losing money by trying to save—which, conveniently, provided me with sufficient rationale for buying lots of nice yoga tops. I love the black piping on this one, and the sleek, narrow straps that make a cute cross on the back.
