Sonoma Bonsai Grape Vine

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

If I could, I'd drop everything, run off to France, and run a winery. Of course, I don't fly, so I can't go to France.

The next best thing? Growing a tiny bonsai vine of Cabernet straight from Sonoma in a ceramic pot. The vines are already 10-12 years old, so grapes come soon! Whether you have the contraptions to actually make wine... (via Dr Vino)

Bacon Salt

5 people recommended this item

Description

If my body would allow it, I would eat a side of bacon at every one of my meals, and by side, I don't mean a small plate on the side, I mean the whole side of a pig.

Unfortunately, my arteries just aren't what they used to be, so the very least I can do is flavor healthier foods with bacon salt. I'm sure I could convince myself that a bowl of steamed broccoli tastes as good as bacon.

Fresh Baked Cookie Candle

First to recommend

Description

I love the smell of fresh-baked ANYTHING in my house, but I CANNOT allow actual baking in my house or else I will eat too much.

The Fresh Baked Cookie candle is the next best thing. OK, it's not really, but I have to keep telling myself that until I lose 5 pounds.

The Dolce Group Candles

First to recommend

Description

I can't say that I actually like any of the Dolce Group's restaurants that I've tried -- Dolce Enoteca, Ketchup and Geisha House. The food is forgettable, but I will give two of the restaurants credit for having a good VIBE. Because the Dolce Group is good for vibe, then, I am quite certain that the candles that represent the restaurants make for a good vibe at home, and would be an interesting gift for an LA socialite. (Not sure that I'd want a gaudy red and white candle for Ketchup, though. That restaurant just plain sucks all around.)

Le Rustique from the Cheese Store of Beverly Hills

First to recommend

Description

Cheese Store of Beverly Hills.

When you're walking up Beverly Drive, you might catch the downwind, and crinkle your nose. WHAT IS THAT SMELL?!?! From anyone or anything else, the odor will be offensive, but from the Cheesestore of Beverly Hills, it's the luxurious fragrance of an entire store filled with cheese. The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills has everything, and Norbert and Tony not only know their cheeses, but are so genuinely sweet and enthusiastic that you'll want to take home a piece of everything. Restrain yourself. The store isn't going anywhere, and buying only what you need means you get to go back for more.

The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills does gift baskets, and this aint' no Hickory Farms. Le Rustique is an impressive collection: Audoin de Dampierre Champagne, Marsanny Red Burgundy, Chassagne Montrachet (!), a 1 kilo Brie, 5 assorted cheeses, a large Panettone (someone else can take that - I don't love panettone), mustard, olives, pate, pistachios, a tin of cookies, French chocolate Truffles, Spanish Fig Cake, Chocolate Twigs, and a beautiful boxed set of four cheese plates featuring vintage Camembert labels.
