TV Junkie - a list by SaneAmy

About this list:
I've never been a huge movie fan, but am a total TV junkie. I almost always leave a movie wanting more...thinking "what happens next?". With a well thought out and well-written series, you get a deeper involvement with both the story and the characters. The heavier and more developed the shows mythology and continuity, the better. These are some of my all-time faves.

Description
Complete series (7 Seasons) of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Joss Whedon is my hero...10+ years off the air, and this is still #1 on my list of all-time favorites TV shows. And there's a good chance it always will be. If you're already a fan of the show, you know what I'm talking about. If you're not, you don't know what you've missed.

Firefly

Description
Joss Whedon is great! Firefly was Whedon's third tv series (after Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff Angel), and even though it was cancelled by Fox mid-way through it's first season, it's become . In fact, around two years after Firefly was cancelled, the entire cast was reassembled to film Serenity. This is such a great show- funny, entertaining, well-written, and the cast is incredible. You should definitely give this a chance!
This description comes from the case:
Five hundred years in the future, there is a whole new frontier, and the crew of the Firefly-class spaceship Serenity is eager to stake a claim on the action. They'll take any job, legal or illegal, to keep fuel in the tanks and food on the table. But things get a bit more complicated after they take on a passenger wanted by the new totalitarian Alliance regime. Now they find themselves on the run, desperate to steer clear of Alliance ships and the flesh-eating Reavers who live on the fringes of space.
One of Firefly's stars, Nathan Fillion, recently popped up in a new Fox show, Drive. Let's hope Fox doesn't cancel this show, too!

Description
Spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Joss Whedon's "Angel" maintains links with the old show, while maintaining it's independence by creating a respectable mythology of its own.

Battlestar Galactica

Description
One of the most finely written and acted series on television today...or ever. If you're turning up your nose at it because of it's cheesy 70's predecessor, think again. This is an entirely different show. I saw the miniseries just before season 3 started, and was instantly hooked. It's quickly jumped far up the list of favorites shows of all-time.

I have a love/hate relationship with Lost...Most of the time I can't believe how incredibly good it is, sometimes I find it entirely frustrating. But it's always engaging and I still eagerly tune in every week.

A must-see, this HBO series only lasted two seasons, and was never given a proper ending. It deserved better.

Description
I can't believe no one has recommended this yet.
Yet another show that Fox cancelled, only 4 episodes were aired. However, thirteen episodes had been filmed and the remaining nine eps can be seen here for the first time.
Wonderfalls comes from Tim Minear, who wrote, executive-produced, and directed episodes of this show as well as Angel, Firefly, X Files, and now Drive. Wonderfalls revolves around a girl names Jaye, a recent grad of Brown. She lives in a trailer and works at a touristy gift shop called Wonderfalls in Niagara Falls. Everything in her life is going fine until inanimate objects start talking to her. These inanimate objects instruct her to help out total strangers, which she does reluctantly to make the voices stop. Part comedy and part drama, the cast is superb and the writing equally as good.
God this show is brilliant. Too bad Fox didn't give it a chance.

Veronica Mars

Description
The series overall has it's high points and low point (season 1 being by far the best, in my opinion). Kristen Bell's performance can be credited in large part with the shows success. I particularly enjoyed the relationship between her and her sometimes PI, sometimes sheriff father (Enrico Colantoni) Smart and witty, a critical fave with low ratings constantly teetering on the edge of being cancelled. It managed to last 3 seasons-in large part due to grassroots fan support-before getting axed.

Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Season 1)

Description
I was never a huge fan of the Terminator movies-heck, I don't think I've even seen them all. I tuned into the show for a few reasons: 1) Firefly/Serenity alum Summer Glau (Cameron) and 2) it was a new shows during the stark days of the writer's strike and, 3) I love a show with kick butt women characters, and this one's got two. I'm struggling with the erratic handling of the time-travel storyline (not a big fan of those in general), but it has potential. I hear it's coming back for a second season, so I'm hoping Fox gives it a chance to iron out the kinks.
