Aidan Olive

First to recommend

Description

Our first crush, how sweet it was. Our stomachs doing flip flops, our inability to see straight. The unexpected dizziness of it all was enough to make our hearts explode. Of course, the object of our affection never knew how we felt, we were too shy to admit it. Instead we took up carving our initials followed by their initials on any surface we could find. The most memorable of them all was a park bench. Hidden amongst 'RICKY RULEZ' and 'SHAWN WUZ HERE' was our own declaration: DP loves RE. Ever since then benches have been very special to us. If your backyard or roof deck could use a good looking place to ponder crushes from long ago, or just to sit on while deciding what to have for dinner, the Aidan Olive Zen Bench is for you.

STAACH Cain Collection Stool

First to recommend

Description

STAACH has created just the right solution to my kitchen woes: the Cain Collection Stool. I have what some would call the most vertical (and smallest!) kitchen around. We have little to no counter space but we do have cabinets! Cabinets that nearly reach the sky. The issue with this: 1.) items are notorious for falling off the shelves and onto our noggins, an event we have termed a “kitch-a-lanch” and 2.) it is a bit difficult to reach a bowl when it is 5 five feet above your head. That is where the Cain Collection Stool comes in to save the day. The stool not only adds an eye catching yet simple element to our space, but it plays an utterly important role in the general function of our kitchen. (via Design Public)

Area Mist Charcoal Organic Bedding

First to recommend

Description

Thanks to Area’s newest bedding pieces, I just now came up with my New Year’s resolution (only 42 days late!): only purchase organic bedding (in addition to other environmental changes). I am sure a number of people resolved to make this idea a reality months or years ago. I just needed a little more time to come around and realize the impact organic bedding can have not only in my bedroom but environmentally as well. Do I really want to sleep for 8 hours under something full of chemicals? Nope, I don’t believe so. Do I want to support the organic farmers who employ environmentally friendly farming methods? Why, yes! Combine the clean and simple Area designs with the organic option and I can see myself drifting off into a dream world right now. (via Design Public)

Fauna Kids Long Sleeve T-Shirt - Dachshund

First to recommend

Description

Ross Menuez knows how to cultivate the next breed of dachshund lovers…put a Fauna Dachshund Shirt on your child at a very young age and you’ve got ‘em hooked. I’d have to say that out of most dog shapes and sizes, the dachshund group does have one of the most interesting forms. Thus, I’m totally in favor of sporting a Fauna Dachshund t-shirt along side an OFFI Dachshund My Pet Lamp (if you’re Dachshund obsessed). (via design public)

k studio Remote Control Pocket Pillow - White

First to recommend

Description

I’ll admit to being a TV watcher, and I’ll proudly admit to loving/needing the kstudio Remote Control Pocket Pillow. I actually see some longevity in Shelly Klein’s Remote Control Pocket Pillow because 1.) It is a quirky yet practical accessory for my sofa and TV watching practices, and 2.) I hypothesize that several years from now it will be a historic recollection to the days when people actually used remote controls (I foresee technology advancing to a touchless or voice activated remote in the future…maybe even a blink based approach to channel surfing). looolo Mademoiselle Cushions in Lamb

First to recommend

Description

A La Belle Ville! This Mademoiselle cushion is where classic meets modern. An organic Melton wool fabric is used, and layered with organic knit wool stripes. No zippers or other non-biodegradable closures are used on the cushions so they will biodegrade within one year when placed in a composter—don't worry. they will last for years to come! InModern Surfin Side / End Table

First to recommend

Description

The green wave is not always an easy thing to catch hold of when we are surrounded by so many consumer goods that are not sustainable, but InModern does a mighty fine job of helping folks join the momentum. (Whoa, that was a pretty heavy surfing analogy. I apologize!). Case in point: the Surfin Side/End Table. The table is simple, it is smart with regards to style and design, and it is so sustainable it practically defines the word. (via Design Public)

Reform Frog Table

First to recommend

Description

I would love to be a fly on the wall while the designers from Reform produce their pieces from start to finish, especially with unique designs like the Frog Table. 1.) The design for this table is unbelievable. It is a sleek and stylish coffee or end table compete with a storage space for books or magazines (aka awesome form and function). 2.) It can be used inside or out. So versatile! 3.) The table is fabricated from a single sheet of aluminum, with no hardware or adhesives whatsoever (mind boggling!). 4.) The material is 100% recyclable. I think there must be some smart water floating around in Portland because these guys are geniuses. (via Design Public)
