Bikey-Trikey Cycle

First to recommend

Description

When a tricycle as pretty as this exists, one wonders why anyone ever even bothered with plastic trikes. Designed for optimal safety, this trike is as durable and dependable as you could want, all with a remarkable visual aesthetic.

Ugly Duckling Lamp

First to recommend

Description

This Ugly Duckling Lamp is so named because of the duck's jagged form, but there's an abstract sculptural quality to the shape that gives it appeal. And anyway, this lamp is made for a kid, who is far less pretentious about what a duck with a light bulb inside of him looks like.

Bird Piggy Bank

2 people recommended this item

Description

I'm not saying a kid is going to have more fun putting change into a chrome bird than they will using a piggy bank, but you're building an understanding of vast options every time you put something like this in front of a child. Of course, you'll have to answer a lot of questions that begin with "why," but that's part of the fun, too.

Gypsi Mini Chandelier

Description

Pull this thing out for your Mardi Gras party, and it will look totally appropriate. Put it in your little kid's room and add a touch of glamor. Take it to the circus and leave it in the dressing room of your favorite clown. That's what I call versatility.

Boy on Tricycle

First to recommend

Description

The last time I prayed to god with any seriousness was when I asked that the newly pregnant mother of my daughter produce a girl and not a boy. I'm not willing to admit anything worked, but I got the intended result. So bear that in mind when I suggest that the only boy on a tricycle I ever want to see in my field of vision is made from tin and only peddles around when wound up.

Edd Red Head

First to recommend

Description

A plush doll that doubles as a pillow, Edd Red Head has an abnormally large head that has supposedly (says the product copy) to do with how smart he is. I'm just seeing a big red afro. Made from knitted lambswool with polyester stuffing, the piece, designed by Donna Wilson, is made more for show than for durability, but that counts too.

Description

I'm not sure what message you're sending by putting a plush bandit in your child's sleeping arms, but this guy is pretty cute. I personally think he's about eight times as cute as the Wee Ninja, but what can I say -- I root for the underdog.

Rudie Raccoon

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

Artistic renditions of raccoons are always so much more appealing than the real thing. We tend to think of them as cuddly and cute, but they're actually gigantic rodents who look more like little humans crawling into sewers than you'd think. There's some insight in putting a thief's makeshift disguise over the eyes of this guy, but he's still pretty cute with his exaggerated tail (in prison stripes, no less).

Mercedes Set with Caravan

Description

In what kind of strange and wonderful universe did a Mercedes coup ever pull a camping trailer? This Mercedes and Caravan set of tin toys rewrites history with a little retro style.
