Allure Magazine Subscription
First to recommend
Description
For a beauty magazine, Allure keeps its head above the crowd by keeping fluff out of their pages as much as possible.
Didn't think much of it before I picked it up, but now it's my source of creative beauty ideas, looks and trend-spotting. It doesn't tell you to be a size zero or to buy that $15,000 LV bag. It just gives straight-up information and patterns in the fashion and beauty industry.
They also throw in a couple of quirky essays every issue that are a joy to read. But I appreciate Allure most of all because they show real women with their real struggles with their body, looks and emotional tics.
The editorial is not much, but then again, it doesn't have to be.
Would love to get a subscription of Allure as a gift!

Dior Facial Blotting Paper
First to recommend
Description
Unlike other blotting papers I've tried (Clean & Clear, MAC, Papier Poudre), Dior Blotting papers last longer. One sheet is enough to blot my whole face during touch-ups or in the middle of sweltering weather.
Other blotting papers become transparent and too flimsy too easily, but Dior's is just perfect.
I also like the simple, classic look of its packaging, and how it looks like a mini-notebook.

Warm Cotton Eau de Parfum

Description
All right, so I was supposed to buy Clean Sweet Layer. But how was I supposed to resist this friendly, hop-into-bed-and-sleep scent?
It's a great calming scent for me, which I spritz on top of my Clean EDT. It mixes into my own unique scent which makes me feel at ease and grounded, even in the face of elevator malfunction in our building this morning.
Yes, I'm a certified Clean addict. But I dare anyone to resist the warm, welcoming, enveloping hug of their perfume line.

Laura Mercier Lip Stain - Scarlet
First to recommend
Description
I think I know the secret that gives models and celebrities perfect bitten-red lips that last all day.
After coming up empty from the Bobbi Brown counter (no more mattifying lip stain on stock!), I decided to check out Laura Mercier's version of lip stains.
Allure magazine recommended the Sugar Violet shade, but Scarlet caught my eye. When I saw it, I knew it was something special. And it was.
The classic red shade looked simple, catchy, but not over-the-top. And normally, red shades don't seem to blend well with my skin tone, but this one did.
And when I began to wipe it off (it was quite hard to remove the stain -- which is the point, I guess), it left this great, just-bitten reddish shade on my lips. A shade I have successfully replicated to complement my everyday look.
Another thing to write home about is the texture. Not too creamy, not glossy, but not too severe and not at all drying. It's as mind-blowing as Bobbi Brown's lip stain.

LIMITED EDITION AIR CLASSIC Nike SB Sneakers in Gold
First to recommend
Description
Recently bought a pair of gold Adidas sneakers and realized something: gold is a very workable color in casual footwear, like sneakers. It goes with white or traditional denim and even dressed down black.
It's not a common color so it really pops, but not in a tacky way (unless you wear an all-gold ensemble). Perfect for people like me who want something unique, but simple enough to pull off.

Moleskine Plain Pocket Notebook
First to recommend
Description
As a journal-keeper, the kind of notebook, paper and even pen I use matters a lot. Call it obssessive-compulsive, but I feel my most comfortable writing in a Moleskine. It's like seeing the face of an old, trusted confidante.
The pocket-sized plain notebook has been a staple for my journal-writing, note-taking and work for the past five years. And I'll never get tired of getting this as a gift (hint hint).

Gap white long-sleeved women's fitted shirt

A good everyday casually elegant work shirt. Makes me look and feel instantly classy, but comfortable. Can't have too many of these in the closet.

Lindt Excellence Intense Orange

Description
For me, the best chocolate flavor combination -- dark chocolate, orange, almond slivers.
At the Dubai Tennis Championships (1st round Federer vs. Murray), I was sitting behind Mirka Vavrinec (Federer's fiancee). She was absent-mindedly gripping Lindt Intense Orange chocolate bar throughout the match (Federer lost).
I loved the name, and decided to try one myself. I believe Mirka and I are now kindred spirits in our taste in chocolate.

I love Bobbi Brown and I knew this palette would be great. I tried it out and it gave me the most beautiful glow and shimmery flushed cheeks.

Mineral makeup
2 people recommended this item
Description
Ideal healthy make-up for all skin types. I choose mattifying mineral foundation because of my predisposition to oily skin.
Particularly, I use My Dream Collection and Luminare brands for mineral make-up; the local, more cost-effective brands work best for me because they don't contain boron or derivatives of boron.
This is the only kind of make-up that is guaranteed not to cause breakouts on my skin -- even when I forget to wash it off at night.
Good coverage and lovely flawless natural finish, but not good enough to conceal my facial birthmark and sunspots. (That's why I still use this over Cinema Secrets concealer.)
