About this list:

This is a collection of stuff that I think is really cool but missed the first time around. And my wife and I have this phrase we're trying to teach our daughter to help us sing every morning: "One kid is a perfect number of kids!"

Qualifications:

Once I had a baby, baby stuff got even cuter than ever.

Craftsbury Kids Custom Silhouette Pendants

First to recommend

5 people recommended this item

Description

Send in an image of your kid (or pet or whatever), and Craftsbury Kids will turn it into a silhouette pendant in a mere three weeks. Although probably only a sincere consideration for parents of small children and aging singles with cats, there's also some sarcasm potential for jaded hipsters. (via swissmiss)

Toddler Moc-a-Soc

First to recommend

Description

What makes the Moc-Soc so amazing, as any parent knows, is that infants cannot keep shoes on their feet while crawling around, bending ankles and feet in all directions with their extreme flexibility, and simply grabbing and pulling at shoes on feet. For occasions when a standard pair of socks looks a little underwhelming, Moc-a-Soc offers a great alternative, designed to look about as close to a real shoe as a sock can.

Things Modern Parents Love - Splash - Poppy

2 people recommended this item

Description

If there were one item that could personify the dream of design sensitivity and the mundane aspects of everyday parenting, this might be it. You're going to appreciate this less than you might expect at 3:30 am--empty as it will be, because you were too tired to actually wash any bottles--as your child wales in the other room and your spouse infuriatingly just sleeps through it all. But it's good to dream. All that aside, this piece looks great, whether you like babies or not. I'm sure it's great for drying highball glasses, too.

Maclaren Philippe Starck Diaper Bag

3 people recommended this item

Description

What an amazing paring of high and low, pitting one of the greatest living industrial designers in the world against, well, diapers. Why not, right? This is truly a triumph for the high-end baby market. Plus, it's a remarkably sleek and understated parenting accessory, which generally makes you feel a lot better about yourself despite the lack of sleep, the on-hold career waiting for you, etc.

Generate: Kids' Blanket

2 people recommended this item

Description

Adding a hand-made touch to something that your infant or toddler comes into contact with regularly is not a bad way to instill a sense of good design. This piece effortlessly incorporates a very approachable design element (the kind that kid's respond to and remember) that's both simple and unique.

BABYBJORN Baby Carrier Active - Sporty Black

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

Nowhere near as fashionable as it once was, the Bjorn felt pretty integral to key developments in my baby's interaction with the outside world. Once she figured out that the view from behind her (which was in front of me, as she was facing inward at the time) was so incredibly better, she refused to be inserted into the carrier facing inward. Floating into the world in front of her gave her a new perspective on outside environments and a real ability to interact with others. She has since grown nearly too large for the carrier, which is admittedly increasingly uncomfortable on the shoulders as your kids gets bigger, but this thing made for really good times.

Swallow Mobile

Description

Looks incredibly cool, but also keenly recognizes that babies are pretty much just looking for contrast when they spend all their time on their backs gazing up.
