I must admit I'm not one to stay on top of the pop music scene, but one album I did invest in this year was Amy Winehouse's Back to Black. We've all seen this tabloid queen in action this year, but if you haven't given her Grammy-nominated album a listen, you're missing out. Her soulful voice transports you back to a time when music was about someone's voice and not computers. It's no surprise she's also nominated for Best New Artist.

This album also features the nominated Record of the Year Rehab - whether she's in or out of treatment, I hope she wins a Grammy this year.

Update: 5 Grammy's for Ms. Winehouse! Don't stay in rehab too long, we need you.

Best Alternative Album of they year went to The White Stripes for Icky Thump. I'm still not sure if this duo is comprised of a brother and sister or ex-spouses, but I did see them at Coachella a few years ago and they were quite fantastic.
