Wood Laser-Cut Coasters By Sarah Finn

2 people recommended this item

Description

Well, wood has definitely come back in a huge way (WHO CALLED IT, SUCKERS??).

This is one of the many examples of ways to use wood with a contemporary twist - in this case, laser cutting gorgeous, intricate designs, making an event out of the most banal household object - the humble coaster. (via laurasweet)

This is so, so pretty. It perfectly epitomizes the current push towards organic materials and textures, with minimalist modern silhouettes. Bla bla bla, also it happens to be beautiful, and very expensive.

Theo Richardson for P'kolino Play Table

First to recommend

Description

New York-based designer Theo Richardson is obsessed with simple, functional designs. A RISD grad with an interest in "anonymous design", Richardson takes a studied and meticulous approach to his work, and it shows in pieces like this beautiful, streamlined, yet completely age-appropriate maple and vinyl modular play set. Richardson is the kind of designer who makes me think about having kids for almost a full two seconds, before I realize I could just buy the table and scrap the procreation - and then I realize I can't afford either. ($1000 at PKolino.com)
