Canon EOS 5D Digital Camera

Description
It's a full-frame 35mm digital camera in a compact size - perfect for travel. Plus the small size doesn't intimidate poeple in front of the lens. (via Canon USA)

Sandisk 16GB Extreme III CompactFlash Card
First to recommend
Description
My dream card. I currently use the 4GB version of this card but can fill it up in a day. When shooting in RAW format with a DSLR you can go though some serious memory in a hurry.

Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM AF Lens
First to recommend
Description
This is the lens I settled on as the all-purpose lens for my 5D. It is a little slow but the image stabilization helps make up for this. The images have been sharp and the high-end L glass produces beautiful color.

Canon 77mm Haze UV-1 Glass Filter
First to recommend
Description
Protect your expensive lens investment with a haze filter. Aside from protecting the outer glass element of the lens, it will improve your shots in daytime haze.

Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Autofocus Lens
First to recommend
Description
This is the next lens I'm going to buy, all though it could be a while. This lens is a fast f2.8 with image stabilization to boot. Sure it's expensive, but it should help eliminate getting any more blurry shots of wildlife that is keeping a safe distance from you!

Canon 2x EF Extender II
First to recommend
Description
Here's a relatively inexpensive way to turn your 70-200MM f2.8L IS lens into a 140-400mm lens. When you add this extension tube you double your focal length. Suddenly those birds in that tree aren't too far away to photograph any more.

Canon 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Autofocus Lens
First to recommend
Description
This is a great lens for doing macro shots. My favorites are trying to get good shots of flowers and bugs, or better yet, both at the same time. It's a real challenge since the bugs are always moving, and it seems like the wind blows every time I try to shoot flowers.

Bogen / Manfrotto 3437 3D Magnesium Head
First to recommend
Description
I've been using this Manfrotto head for about the last year. The magnesium keeps the weight down, while the whole unit folds into a reasonably compact package. It has a quick release, a bubble level and can adjust on all 3 axises.

Slik Pro 814 Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs
First to recommend
Description
I have an older version of this tripod which has held up very well over the last 6 or 7 years. You pay a lot more for carbon fiber, but if you are going to be doing any amount of traveling or backpacking with it, nothing else will do.

Canon 580EX II Flash 2x with ST-E2 Transmitter Kit
First to recommend
2 people recommended this item
Description
Ooooooooo, nice combo. Pricey, but what isn't in the whole Canon line? The 580EX II is their ultimate flash, and the transmitter unit allows you to place the flash almost anywhere you like. Having the flash on top of the camera really limits creative lighting, this kit will allow you all sorts of flexibility.
