I first saw Ray Caesar's work in Juxtapoz a while back, and everything that I've seen from him blows me away. In June 08's issue of Juxtapoz he gives a little detail about the production of each piece, explaining that he uses a 3D modeling / animation app -- Maya -- used in small projects like Spider Man, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings ;) .... All that to say, he takes the whole "surreal realism" thing to another level. Ray Caesar is my response to former art professors that looked down their noses at digital art. There really wasn't much that was more humbling for me as a graphic designer than the first time I tried my hand at 3D design (namely in Maya)... it is safe to say that he's mastered it... and he was classically trained... I'm green with envy and enamored all at once :)

I've been mad about Audrey Kawasaki from the first "doodle" I looked at on her website a loong time ago. Her work is other-worldly on notebook paper or using Intaglio methods she's prepping eager enthusiasts like me for from her blog.
