Description

Another furniture pick by me that turned out to be ridiculously expensive. Cool, but still the down payment for a car. As most people know, bamboo is an extremely renewable resource for wood. However, most home furnishing products are still rather pricey. I'll be glad when they become more affordable. Most of us still have to buy the chemically-treated "crap wood" furniture that's still readily available.

The Tetrad Bamboo by Brave Space Design

This version of our Tetrad Shelving uses the Tetris-inspired shapes to create sustainable, modular shelving for your home or office. The combination of the Amber and Natural Bamboo will provide your work or live space with warm tones and a playful style. The smooth surface is treated with an herbal oil and a durable non-toxic water based finish.

The Policy. At Brave Space our policy is to optimize our use of materials, thereby minimizing the amount of waste and scrap.

Bamboo plywood is made from 100% rapidly renewable bamboo, using adhesives that are both strong and emissions free. FSC certified Plywood (Forest Stewardship Council). FSC tracks the wood from its forest of origin all the way through the chain of custody to where the product is sold. An FSC certified product has been harvested and produced in a stringently eco-sensitive manner.

Finishes, Glues & Adhesives. At Brave Space we use only paints, stains, adhesives, and sealants with low or zero VOCs (volatile organic compounds). We finish all products with either hand-applied organic-herbal oil or a water-based spray finish.

Wind Based Power. In our shop, we use clean, emission free wind and small-hydro energy reducing the need for energy from other sources.

Local Suppliers and Manufacturers. All materials are supplied by local distributors for our Brave Space Products. All finishers and manufacturers that we work with on various Brave Space projects are located in Brooklyn, NY.

Now this is my idea of a bed. Function and design. The mattress swings up, sort of like a Murphy bed, to reveal storage underneath. Since people are known to hide things in mattresses, I wouldn't hide anything valuable there, but it is storage space. Ideal for bedding, reading materials, weapons, or whatever else you might think of.

The bed frame/headboard is one piece and can be upolstered in one of 17 different fabrics.

Erich Ginder Ghost Antler Coat Rack In White at Velocity Art And Design

I try to limit the kitsch in my house to small amounts and areas. When I saw this Antler Coat Rack, I thought, "This has possibilities..." If I'm going to put up something a little cheesy and off the wall, I'd like there to be some function to it as well as design.

Gorgeous, handmade coat rack by Seattle artist and designer, Erich Ginder.

The casting process used to create the antler tiles is done entirely by hand in small quantities. After the cast piece is demolded, it's sanded and finished by the artist. Due to natural parting lines in the mold, faint lines along the face of the tile may be visible. This varies from piece to piece, but does not affect the strength or overall beauty of the finished piece.

Materials: Cast White Resin

Dimensions: H approx. 11.75" x W approx 11.75" x D approx 8" Dimensions of the tile vary slightly as each piece is handmade and individual variances occur.

So, I finally found a modern chair that looks and sounds comfortable. But of course it turns out to be $5200.00! I guess I have better taste than I thought. Sheesh! Anyway, here it is, in all of its glory, complete with a product description.

The Take a Line For a Walk by Moroso

Häberli brings out the communication abilities of the object and the emotional bond which it can create: the chair draws on an archaic yet extremely modern visual force which recalls the idea of a cocooning, motherly comfort, with the big ears which can be wrapped around the head in search of protection or isolation from the surrounding environment. Description

I started to call this print "whimsical" in my description of it. Then I thought to myself that wishes and dreams aren't always "whimsical" and "fanciful". This a wonderful print of a pensive cat called Gracie. If you don't mind having a print of someone else's cat hanging in your house. I would suggest this one. The seller/photographer suggests that Gracie has a rather spiritual expression on her face. I would agree. Although, she could just as easily be fixated by a bird. If you are at all familiar with cats. That being said, it still a terrific print. I could see it "gracing" my wall, couldn't you? (via etsy.com)
