A.p.c. Raw Indigo Jeans New Standard
2 people recommended this item
Description
The quintessential pair of raw denim for those starting out in the game and veterans alike. They are a flattering pair of slim (not skinny) jeans that will exhibit excellent wear marks given the right attention (wear them often, and don't wash). The best part is the price (Under $120, usually).

Thick As Thieves Suits

Description
When you get to a certain point in your life, you realize that wearing sneakers and a striped Abercrombie shirt to a wedding may sound cool, but isn't. When it was time for me to get a real tailored suit, instead of combining random sports jackets and slacks from different labels, I went straight to Thick as Thieves. Based in LA as a side project for a StyleForum member, I was able to get a "custom" suit tailored to my exact measurements. The silhouette is thin, as is the trend nowadays, and I will gladly admit I received a number of compliments when I premiered it. This is not Saville Row, but it's not $10,000 either.

Year-round Solid Suiting Vest

Description
I know most guys don't like vests and those who do probably reserve them for very formal events. I guess I am different because I think the 3 piece suit is a classic look and vests worn without a jacket also look great, making you stand out among the crowd. I have always liked J Crew among the casual mall stores and I find this vest in particular very appealing and at a good price point.

Lee 101Z Gold Label Jeans
First to recommend
Description
Though it's been around forever, I never considered wearing Lee Jeans. It's always been Levi's for me growing up and Lee was largely ignored. Recently, I found that Lee had a premium line called Gold Label with a flagship pair, 101Z. I picked up a pair and just got around to wearing it and it's great. It's very comfortable and the denim feels great. It's a narrower cut, similar to APC NS, but I'd say even a bit looser. It stacks well, even on low-cut casual shoes (like Chucks, Vans). Of course it's Japanese selvedge denim too!

Tanner Standard Belt - Natural + Nickel
First to recommend
2 people recommended this item
Description
Tanner recently released two new belt styles, the Scout and Eastern Bloc, both of which deserve their own page. However, today I am recommending their first belt, the Standard. I happen to be wearing said belt right now, in the same configuration (nickel hardware) and it's probably my favorite belt. The belts are hand cut and the fit is impeccable. I love the natural (undyed) color and there is no cracking or wrinkles that you see from other manufacturers. Though I think the nickel finish on the buckle is the best, you can also get it in matte black as well for a subdued look. Don't sleep.

Kicking Mule Workshop 1980 Japanese Edition

Description
I was lucky enough to get a pair of these at a local men's store during one of their bi-annual sales. I simply love them. Raw Japanese in a great straight fit jean. They're raw and unwashed and prefer to stay that way. Wear them often and hard and then give it a wash in cold water, inside out. Hang to dry and prepare yourself for the oohs and ahhs for adoring fans when you rock them at work the next day.

Alpaca/Merino/Cashmere Hand Knit Fingerless Gloves

Description
Wow these look great. I am trying to get my roomate to knit me a beanie. I'd want this next. Great attention to detail in the patterns and I like the contrasting red and black "buttons."

Stowa Antea 390

Description
Besides Switzerland, Japan and Germany are watch powerhouses as well. The later makes some amazing timepieces in both the tool and dress categories. These Stowa automatic watches have bled hands, a classic no frills dial and a date at the 6'oclock region rather than the classic 3. A simple silver case with sharp lines and a classic black leather band rounds out what I'd call a perfect segway piece for the newcomer.

No Mas - Vietcong Shirt

Description
I have this shirt in army green (get it?) but this white colorway is dope too. I was too politically naive to pay attention to the quote in the Will Smith drama but I certainly will next time I pop in the DVD. This shirt is simple and iconic.

Fiberops - Biter Shirt

Description
Ever since I saw one of the founders of Fiberops speak, I was hooked. This guy is a pioneer and while I'll admit I don't think I can pull off many of their shirts, I thought this was was funny. I won't be rockin' at at work but I can definitely see this turning heads at a party or show.
