Chenille Bumps
First to recommend
Description
These are the hippie version of pipe cleaners. Stick them into styrofoam balls, connect balls with tooth picks, add googly eyes, and you have the makings of any animal, vegetable or mineral. Yellow bumps = Easter chick. White bumps = snowman. Pink bumps = pig or bunny. Double 2 bumps to make bunny ears. Put them on a styrofoam cone for a Christmas tree. Ok, you get the idea. Now go get some of these and start bumpin'! (via Harvey's Hobby Hut)

Description
Bring your chenille bump creation to life with wiggle eyes. These are extra cool because they come in different colors, not just the standard black. Go nuts and use 2 (or more!) different colored eyes on the same little critter. (via Amazon)

Wonderart Latch Hook Kit

Description
This one is way cooler than the basket o' kittens I was hooking up as a kid. Did anyone ever use these as rugs? Or did your mom hang yours on the wall in the guest bathroom like mine did? (via Amazon)

Shrinky Dinks Jewelry
First to recommend
Description
Remember the old TV commercial where the kids watch in amazement as the plastic pieces shrink in the oven? Who cares about the actual jewelry. It's all about the oven being used for something other than making mom's dreaded meatloaf - hooray! (via Amazon)

Melissa & Doug Scissors Set

Description
These may keep a kid safe from cuts, but not from total frustration. Brings back bittersweet memories of my first lesson in futility and my longing to be old enough to use mom's Fiskars. (via Amazon)

Permanent Glue Stic

Description
Oh yeah! 43 cents of pure glue goodness. What a fun mess this made. And looked just like dad's deodorant too, so I thought. That mess was not as fun. (via Amazon)

Colored wood craft sticks

Description
With 5 (hopefully) nontoxic colors to choose from, why lick anything else? Also good for making hideous Christmas ornaments and lopsided Indian villages.
