Gosomi Biscuits
First to recommend
2 people recommended this item
Description
Gosomi are fantastic little biscuits with hints of coconut and sesame. They are super thin, very crispy and melt away on your tongue is seconds. The texture is a sensory wonder. The flavor is complex... its light, sweet, a little toasty and distinctly nutty with a taste of coconut. The packaging is very cute though a little odd. A golden yellow wrapper is decorated with fairytale-like illustrations of a little girl and a scooter and a baby rocker. If nothing else, the wrapper accurately (and strangely) conveys the idea of delicacy.
I have been enjoying these treats for a while, knowing relatively nothing about them. Trying to add them to ThisNext forced me to do some serious research.
Turns out, Gosomi is one of many snacks made by a large company called Orion Corp out of Seoul, Korea. This biscuit was reintroduced back in 2002, though there is nothing else said about its heritage.
I did find out that "the sophisticated and modern packaging was designed by Komine Yuri, a Japanese illustrator for creative and mysterious-looking illustrations"
Now that I've lectured you, treat yourself to a reward. Get some Gosomi!

If foodies in NYC have a holy shrine, its probably Zabars! I am completely enamored with this store! From obscure cheeses to fresh meats to about every kitchen tool and gadget available - they have it! In the spirit of packing a lot of bang into a small space, Zabars's two level location is brimming with great stuff. Expensive knives, all your Bodum toys, small appliances, stemware. They have it. As small as the store is, you can easily spend hours on each floor!

Altoids Chocolate Peppermints

Description
How can you make anything better? Deep fry it or cover it in chocolate! Thankfully the clever folks at Collard & Bowser picked the latter of the two options!
Chocolate Covered Altoids! Seriously!
I'm not a huge mint and chocolate fan but these do the trick and make me itch for more! Each mint is covered with a rich layer of rich dark chocolate. The mixture balances the two into a poppable treat. I nearly went through an entire tin the first time I tried them!
You have to try these! Its fresh breath and a chocolate fix in one!

Gjetost Cheese
4 people recommended this item
Description
I have walked by this cheese for YEARS! Always curious, never willing to plunk down a few dollars to try it. When I saw that Alyson recommended it, I knew it was time for me to get with the program!
The next time I was in the store I picked up a cube.
Ah, the power of cheese, err, ThisNext!
Gjetost is a curious cheese. Though sugar is not on the list of igredients, its kinda sweet. The cheese melts away like a caramel. There is a good reason why the packaging suggests you cut it with a cheese plane - too much and it becomes overwhelming. The taste is quite mild at first but the goat milk comes out in the end. If you have with apples and pears, I imagine the goat taste would be supressed.
Its good stuff. Its definitely a cheese you need to check out if you love cheeses. (via Alyson)

Boursin Cheese
First to recommend
Description
Soft, fluffy, creamy & garlicy goodness. Boursin Cheese makes a fantastic spread on toast or crackers. Boursin is flavorful without being heavy. The cheese itself is of the Gournay variety and it rocks my world!
If you try it, you'll probably overindulge, so pack some mints!

Nutella

Description
Okay, this might sound crazy, but I JUST had nutella for the first time today, at the age of 23. Crazy, I know. I can't believe what I've been missing! Kind of like peanut butter, but chocolate-y! And hazelnut-y! YUM.
Try it on a whole grain english muffin with sliced banana.
FREAKING DELICIOUS I TELL YA.

Weetabix Cereal

Description
Its a British thing. Weetabix is really a curious cereal that is very tasty and also very healthy for you. Each package contains 24 'bricks' made from hearty whole grain wheat. The texture is crumbly and brittle. Some people pour milk over it to make it mushy - not my favorite. Others like to spread regular or peanut butter or jam and eat it like a biscuit - doing it this way lets you enjoy the crispy texture and how it melts away in your mouth. Or you could just eat them plain, though you should eat them over something unless you want to leave a trail of evidence.
You can buy this from the site linked but you can probably find this cheaper at many supermarkets not just those specializing in international fare. You probably walked past it on your way to pick up some more Count Chocula or Trix.
Its organic, whole wheat, high fiber and of course, its British!
