Hand-Knit Alpaca Sweater Coat

Okay, so I'll tell you up front that I have an affinity for all things alpaca. Mainly because of the love that I have for a SUPER warm alpaca throw that I got several years ago. It turns out that alpaca is one of the warmest wools out there. Therefore the fact that this beautiful knit sweatercoat is made of alpaca hair makes me want it even more!! I'm always cold after all....and what's winter clothing if it's not keeping you warm!

I love it because it's Orla Keily....and Orla equals happiness. Just looking at this bright whimsical bag makes me want to go skip through a meadow (or something). Plus it's made of her trademark waterproof canvas, so you're guaranteed that it's going to continue to look this good for ages to come.

My exact words when I saw this bag were, "Oh f*cking god, that is GORGEOUS!" I'm not proud of myself for taking the lord's name in vain over a purse, but I do have to admit that this particular one is pretty damn awesome. It reminds me of Gucci in it's heyday. It makes me envision that I'm Carrie Bradshaw and living a [much more] fabulous life. Yep....I MUST HAVE THIS BAG.

Okay...this is one of those mini-trends that came along subversively. You probably didn't even notice that it was a trend at all, but it is. It's an American take on the Palestinian kufiya. I was originally one of the people who scoffed at this look, but it's grown on me over time. And now, I'm going to have to go out and buy one of these for myself b/c I can't stop thinking about it.

My theory with upholstery (think sofas & chairs) is that a contrast trim is the quickest way to personalize & dress it up. It's simple. Chic. Classic. And that's what I love about this coat. It's a coat that won't be out of style next season, and in today's economy....that's a good thing, right?

There are a lot of things to love about this sweater such as the way the periwinkle blue and khaki pop off the dark brown of this sweater making it feel current and classic all at the same time....or the marled merino wool it's made from. But the best part is the fit. The stiff turtleneck adds structure while the body of the sweater is shapely without being too body hugging. It's great for those days when you decide to eat the brownie for dessert.

Rabbit vase by perch! design

This little vase is so cute because to me it functions kind of like a Rorshach test. What does it look like to you? At first I thought it was a really cute chicken foot. Then I realized it was a rabbit head. Whatever it is....I like it. And I really like the simple color-dotted medallion on the front. It sort of reminds me of a blood analysis through a microscope. Wow! This home designer must have gone to school for psychology or science....or else I've been watching too many episodes of CSI. (via Design*Sponge)
