Your Hair Looks Filthy. Love it. - a list by Alyson
Options for This Page
About this list:
Filthy, texture-y, dirty , piece-y, greasy, second-day: call it what you will, the unwashed-hair look not to be casually attempted. The wrong product or amateur application and someone's gonna call the EPA in for a haz-mat cleanup. Oil slick! Too little and, really, why bother. But, if you nail it, hotness is yours.
Qualifications:
Bad hair days are the new good hair days.

Description
Good, sticky texturizer... not too sticky. Androgynous scent. works best for piecing or for separation that starts at the roots.

L'Oreal Professionnel Tex Playball Beach Crème
First to recommend
Description
Beach babe hair creme. Texture without weight. Filth without grunge. Gets better the more you add... the only beach-hair product i've ever seen that's not a spray/liquid. Love that it's not a paste... paste is too much for this look.
Hair crack... What I'd take to a desert island.

Kiehl's Creme with Silk Groom

Description
A lighter styling creme than i usually like but it's a good place to start if you're neurotic* enough to get into layering hair products.
Good if you're trying to tame flyaways. Bad if you want real definition. But everyone should have a bottle of this stuff... i've never met a hairstyle that didn't get along with some Kiel's Silk Groom.
*I prefer the term "experimental." Ahem.

Just a touch adds luster. Put it under detailing creme, just on the top surface. Helps dry hair simmer down.

Redken Urban Experiment 4 Grit Wax - Redken Styling and Finishing Products

Description
I'm not going to lie - I hate clean hair. Hate it. I can go days without a shampoo. And by "days" I mean lots of days. More than you want to know. But when lather, rinse repeat I must, Grit Wax is there to restore the delicate balance. Scoop a dollop, mush it about between your palms and clap a few times (with feeling!), goop it over wet hair from under/back to top/front, ride your bike around the neighborhood to tousle, maybe get some coffee while you're at it, and for heaven's sake don't brush. Hair brushes are for preppies. And you aren't a preppy, are you.
