Dec the Halls (and walls, and rooms, and closets) - a list by nanashi

About this list:

Oh, the holidays! While a select few of us (lucky bastards!) get to run around making merry, singing carols and generally not worrying about their already done Christmas shopping, the rest of us poor shmos fall into one of two categories: those with such bad taste that finding gifts is impossible, and those with no money. I am the latter of the two. So here is my list of all the well-designed things that my friends and family would be getting if only I had the moolah to fund it. Enjoy!

Qualifications:

Seeing Christmas window displays I think: I could do better.

Black Bird, Fly. (Orange)

Description

As cheesy as it sounds, we all love it when old school meets new school, bringing together such made-to-be partners as classic rollie style and oh, so shiny plastic in this seriously awesome camera.

Real Good Chair

First to recommend

Description

Folding chairs are ugly and cheap... right? Wrong. The real good chair is the aptly named, piece of modernly designed portable furniture you have always wanted. It is made of sheets of powder coated metal sheets folds impossibly flat and, more impossible still, is totally sturdy to sit on. Better still, this chair is gorgeous looking, and has enough geometric fold lines to fit in with even the most ultra-modern furnishings (or a college student-esque minimalistic dorm). In a shade of turquoise reminiscent of old T-Birds, this is one Real Good Chair.

How hot is this? Considering the sexy print, the satiny violet fabric and 100% feather fill. I'd have to say very.

A + R Store: Glass Cocktail Rings by Phuze Design Collective

Description

Okay, is this not a totally gorgeous ring? Made of glass, but looking like a jewel, this ring is totally gorgeous and available in every single colour of the rainbow (well, the good ones anyway), and at only $62 bucks a pop, you might as well get one of each. Corny, I know, but, seriously, this ring is a real gem!

Ion Portable USB Turntable

Description

Okay, okay, so this is just another cool looking USB turntable that no one really needs. But the design of it is just gorgeous! Its futuristic meets retro design is made even cooler by the fact that it totally accessorizes with your iPod... and your outfit! Yes, you can just pick it up and go- cooler than a suitcase, and more functional than a purse. You just need to figure out where to put your keys.....

ellynelly :: Walk This Way wall graphic

First to recommend

Description

All the people, so many people....
29 people in fact, walking about your bedroom or den. Silhouettes of business men and women, kids and teenagers, walking, leaning, jumping or just standing around your walls who have absolutely nothing in common, except that they have nowhere to go and nothing to do but make your house look as cool as possible. These cool decals come in a variety of colours, and are made of a matte vinyl material. The name is misleading, these decals are waaaay cooler than Aerosmith, much more like the poppy, happy, unique tunes of Blur.

A cool display case that'll make pretty much all of your crap look cool, and well organized (or "artfully disheveled" if that's how you roll). sitting on a table or hanging on the wall- this display case proves that while Apple's lopping of the corners of all their Tech, the cube will always rule for cool.

The Tribella Watch in Clear Pink

First to recommend

Description

The Nixon Tribella watch has been on the market for ages- I managed to scoop mine up about this time last year- and for good reason! I love everything about its design: the triangular shape, the bangle aesthetic, and the seemingly endless amount of cool colours it keeps being released in: mint green, turquoise, and now- TRANSPARENT COLOURS! Yep, I'm pretty much whooping with joy as my favourite plastic colour gets a see-through make-over. This clear pink is gorgeous, but also be on the look out for clear lime, and just plain clear! Sure, they might be a little harder to make out than their opaque counterparts, but they're sure to garner plenty of attention on your wrist!

GoldenHalf (Limited Edition)

First to recommend

Description

When I look at a camera, 10% of my mind is on image quality, 70% of my mind is on aesthetics, while the other 20% of my mind is wherever it goes during chemistry tests. Needless to say, this Goldenhalf camera from Japanese brand Superheadz had me at hello, or rather "cheeese". This particular camera package is a limited edition of 1000 pieces, and includes a cute tote (which, like the camera, features a design by Chelsea Maika), and a CD from some band called Powershovel (yeah, beats me, but that's not the reason to buy). Very cool.
