Preserve Toothbrush - Recycline, Inc.
10 people recommended this item
Description
Sounds crazy that a toothbrush could be one of my favorite things, but I do love these brushes. They use old yogurt cups and recycle them into colorful handles for brushes (with new nylon bristles for the scrubby part). After the toothbrushes have been well loved and used, you can send them back to the company for recycling. They make plastic lumber out of them. How cool is that?

Method Home Compostable Sweeping Cloths
First to recommend
Description
In theory, Swiffer-type sweepers are absolutely wonderful inventions – except for the fact that all those fluffy cloths you go through are actually petroleum-based and not very biodegradable or renewable. But Method now makes a compostable version made from corn, and they work just as well as the plastic fiber ones, so it’s a great way to be greener without having to compromise cleanliness.

These are the ultimate city-girl shoe – rubber soles and a beautiful leather-wrapped heel that just happens to be chrome-free. Sexy but surprisingly comfortable, each pair is unique since the upper is made from recycled Indian quilts.

Lara Miller Jasmine Flip Sweater

Description
Produced locally in Chicago, this 100% bamboo hand-loomed sweater can be “flipped” (hence the name) and worn 3 entirely unique ways – as a cowl neck top, or a pullover with an attached capelet, or even a long dress. Imaginative and original, it’s more like a sculpture than a piece of clothing.

Cargo Plantlove Botanical Lipstick

Description
I finally got a chance to try one of these lipsticks! There was a tube in one of my Fashion Week gift bags. I really like it too. It's not drying at all, the color is nice, the packaging is cute and its good for the planet. Once you finish with the tube just toss it into the ground and you can grow a little plant. Also, CARGO is donating two dollars from the sale of every shade to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Square One Organic Vodka

Description
Made from 100% organic American rye, Square One Vodka makes a mean cocktail however you mix it. This forward-thinking company sets a great example for thinking about sustainability in the big picture – they’ve implemented wind-power initiatives, carbon-offset programs, and even the rye byproduct from the fermentation process is sold as feed to an organic dairy farm.

Jason Natural Cosmetics Sea Fresh Plus Toothpaste

Description
With all of the research telling us that gum disease could be linked to a myriad of other more serious health problems like Alzheimer’s, dental care takes on a whole new meaning. Many toothpastes are overloaded with sweeteners and preservatives, but this one has a list of certified organic ingredients instead, with sea salts and active blue-green algae for gum protection. Most importantly, however, it comes in a sweetly addictive spearmint flavor that will please almost any palate.
