Platter No.24 from apmDesign

Description

Ok, yes this platter is a little pricey ($150), but it's pretty large (13"x9"), and produced by an independent artist. I really love the minimal, natural design. It's slightly remiscent of Japanese designs in a kinda wabi-sabi way.

Swallow Cup from CAKE

Description

They say it's their take on the classic mint julep cup. Not knowing much about mint juleps or the cups they are imbibed from, I'll have to take their word for it. But I do love these, especially as a pair. They look smart and smightly whimsical. For some reason I see them being a really cute pair of his and her cups in a bathroom, but they'd fit right in on a summer patio as well.

Letterpress coasters from 12fifteen

Description

I love the tactile quality of leterpressed objects. I just want to pick them up and touch them. Perhaps not the best thing if I want my guests to keep the coasters on the table and the drinks in their hands, but there you have it. The design is simple, but spring-y.

Olive Oil Pourer

I have no actual need for this, but it's just so damn pretty that I want it. Could also be used for salad dressings (possibly more useful), sauces and cream (although I think that'd just be a bit weird). Love the minimal, organic design.

This is such a pretty serving bowl. The colorful rings are almost hypnotic, and the mulit-colored design means it will give a splash of color to any place setting and match almost all of them.

Flying skulls! Which is pretty cool in and of itself, but add to that the square design, and you've got yourself one rockin' way to have your coffee in the morning.

Octopus Vase by Dovetail

First to recommend

Description

Add the octopus to the list of freaky animals that I find utterly fascinating. I think it was spending too much time reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea or something. This menacing creature graces a vase with a slightly uncharacteristic shape. Maybe one of its brethren gave it a squeeze prior to the kiln or something. Whatever it is, it's a totally unique piece that's sure to draw attention.
