Bounce by Bodega

First to recommend

Description

This is Bodega's first studio release, and it is uh-mazing. The guys go for it with danceable grooves and funky beats, but impress with their developed compositions and incredible improv. Once you put this on, you will want to keep listening, and you will be hungry for more.

The bands statement on their goal for this record, "Bounce! is our vision to unite those people, whether they are hip hop heads, beat freaks, jazz heads, ravers, old heads, rockers, festival travelers, and music lovers of every shape and background. From clubs, to festivals, dance halls, to house parties, warehouses, to hip hop shows, we'll be seein you Bounce! out there."

Bodega is one of Philadelphia's best up and coming young bands, and they are quickly developing a huge fan base.

Although this album was originally released in 1974 it has managed to remain relevant throughout the years. Kraftwerk were certainly innovators in alternative music, so anyone who prides themselves on their music collection should own this.

Shotter's Nation: Babyshambles

3 people recommended this item

Description

Released in 2007, this is the Babyshambles' most recent release. Listened to this CD all winter. If you were a fan of the Libertines, Pete Doherty is back again with the Babyshambles. The songs are lyrically beautiful, and extremely easy to listen to. Think the Kinks meets Pavement and the Clash.

The Bends: Radiohead: Music

Description

This is my favorite Radiohead album. Recorded in 1994 and released in 1995, the sound is incredibly modern and was extremely innovative at the time it was released. It's melodic and beautiful stringing together both ballads and hard alternative rock; all are artfully written. If you are just starting out with Radiohead, start here.

Harvest Moon by Neil Young

First to recommend

Description

Harvest Moon was released in 1992 and is full of acoustic-folk whimsy. Neil Young hits the mark with this album. Harvest is his best-known album, with perhaps his best song "The Needle and the Damage Done", but this sequel to Harvest is a robust collection that shares a universal message and is incredibly listenable for almost any audience. There isn't a single track to skip on this album. For that, I say choose this over any other Neil Young record.

The Lemon of Pink by The Books

First to recommend

Description

Released in 2003, this is The Books second album. Classify them in electronic, or indie pop. The Books have 3 albums and 1 EP; this is a good starting point.
