Svied Corkscrew
First to recommend
Description
This corkscrew from Sveid makes the Rabbit look inexpensive and simplistic by comparison. The corkscrew from Sveid has fifty-two pieces that form a puzzle-like corkscrew. It is made of aviation titanium with a fingertip lever of 18 carat gold. The wooden presentation box is equally luxurious has a unique opener with invisible hinges. Each one is made on order and the presentation box can be personalized with your choice of wood and the color of the shagreen that lines the box as well as having the hinges done in gold. The fingertip lever of the corkscrew can also be cast in platinum. Both the corkscrew and the box can be engraved. The corkscrew starts at 50,000 euros. If you are curious how it works there is a video at the website that shows the corkscrew in action. Personally, I'd rather spend the cash on what I'm opening rather than the opener! (via Luxist)

Description
I have spent a lot of time in France and actually have visited the town in the center of France where these are made. I have a wine opener made with olive wood that is beautifully crafted and is a great combination of design and engineering. I bought it in Burgundy, and think fondly of France every time I open a bottle.

It has 110 color plates from the original Breviary with extensive scholarly commentary. The Breviary contains a foreword by Ross King, a noted author and art historian. We've mentioned Bali-based John Hardy company's commitment to the environment . The company is now behind a pilot project to plant bamboos and reforest Nusa Penida, a small island off the coast of Bali. Local families will be provided with bamboo seedlings and training in sustainable cultivation of bamboo and other hardwoods. To support the project they have created the limited edition sterling silver John Hardy Bamboo Collection. For each piece of jewelry purchased from this collection, John Hardy will plant a certain amount of bamboo seedlings on Nusa Penida. Each piece of jewelry is engraved with the number of bamboos actually planted. The two largest cuffs also have a special grill on the back that depicts both the bamboo theme and the Bali starling. The sterling silver cuff shown here sells for $850.
