Description
This gadget is for just for users of Apple laptops. The Floater is made out of a block of solid aluminum and is designed to hold your computer when you have it hooked up to an external keyboard and monitor. The Floater has airflow designed to keep your Apple cooler. The stand has drilled channels for the cables and silicon pads to grip your Mac without scratching it. Although it looks precarious, the company also promises that the Floater is perfectly stable. It has the same pared down aesthetic as Apple products and sells for $305.

The Ultimate Coffee Cup by David Pier
5 people recommended this item
Description
Is this the ultimate coffee cup? Designer David Pier says so. He has designed this white porcelain cup and saucer to be the best around. The set is made from lead-free porcelain, and is microwave and dishwasher safe. The saucers also double as lids. What makes this mug different is that it has an undulating rim designed to fit the rim better and prevent spills. The oval body is meant to bring the center of gravity closer to the hand. I am not sure whether or not it is the ultimate coffee cup but the design has a certain fluid charm. It sells for $22 each (buy five and get the sixth free).

Carl Mertens: Wine Thermometer
2 people recommended this item
Description
Okay so we know overly warm wine in the summertime is a bad thing and that old shove it in the freezer trick is not an exact science. Hence the proliferation of wine thermometer gadgets. The latest to be making the rounds of the blogosphere is Carl Mertens wine thermometer. A nifty little cuff that slips on the outside of the bottle and shows the temperature of the wine by using a liquid crystal display and a heat sensitive band. We've seen a similar product before but this one has the added bonus of showing whether the temperature of a bottle is within the ideal range for the type of wine listed on the band.
Three's only one problem with this, you are measuring the temperature of the bottle not the temperature of the wine. This might be a problem if you just shoved it in ice to cool it off and the glass is cool but the juice inside is still not at optimum temperature.

Olatz Sheets
First to recommend
Description
The very fashionable Olatz store was created by Olatz Schnabel, the wife of artist/director Julian Schnabel. Olatz's sheets came into being when Julian Schnabel, who also sometimes turns interior designer (the Gramercy Park Hotel being the most shining example) had created a limited edition of raw steel beds and needed sheets to go with them. The sheets come in linen or cotton in a variety of styles varying from modern to classic. The most beautiful are the ones that feature designs embroidered by hand from artists in the Madeira region of Portugal. The design shown above is from the Victoria Collection and sheets start at $700.

Viso Hollywood Table Lamp

Description
The Hollywood lamps from Viso are an interesting take on crystal bead lighting. Generally I'm not a fan of lamps with crystal beads but this one has a modern twist. The outside has a pc mirror finished diffuser and there are crystal beads in the inside. When the lamps are off the shade is a shining reflective mirror. When the lamp turns on, the glittering crystals shine through. There is a wall, table and floor model and you can also order custom sizes with custom crystal colors. The small table lamp sells for $466.

Couture Range Cookers from Britannia Living

Description
Would you want one of these in your kitchen? Check out the Brtiannia Couture range cookers with designs from Avsh Alom Gur. The limited edition of Britannia 100cm Dynasty range stoves come in three styles, Identity (thumbprints), Freedom (birds) and Cubism (a geometric design). The prices start from £4,900. It seems like a risky move to me to have one of these in your kitchen (it could easily clash with your dishes) but I am oddly attracted to the red and black Cubism stove. It could make for one dramatic kitchen.

Carbon De Luxe - Boutique - Exclusive jewelry for men
First to recommend
Description
Body jewelry goes deluxe in the hands of design company Carbon De Luxe (the website is a little NSFW). The line, aimed at gay men, features gold and diamonds including the most lavish jewelry for piercings I have ever seen. The Virgin Collection features pieces that can be worn as traditional jewelry during the day and then used at night for more risque purposes. This piece, called the Gorm, can be worn as a brooch but is also meant to be worn through a man's nipple piercing. It is made of gold with eight colored diamonds (three white, one red, one black, one green, one yellow and once blue totaling .24 carats). It sells for $2,153.

Description
These rubber tubs from The Conran Shop might not be the prettiest things we've ever seen but they could be the workhorse of your summer. The tubs, made from recycled car and truck tires and based on early Middle Eastern leather designs are incredibly tough and long lasting. Use them to hold beach towels, pack them full of ice and use them as a drinks cooler, use them to tote your barbecue supplies to the cookout or any other of dozens of storage options. The tubs sell for $74 to $135 depending on size.
