Digital Christmas Ornament

When we were little, we made felt ornaments to give to Mom and Dad for the tree with one class photo. Today's digital kids do it up bigger and better with these digital holiday ornaments that act as a slide show for your Christmas tree. With a full-color, 1.5" digital screen, this ornament can hold over 50 digital photos, and display them as either a slide show or as still photos. It operates on 2 AAA batteries (I recommend you buy rechargeables) and has automatic on and off settings. Comes with software, USB cable and photo stand, but note, it is not MAC-compatible. Software is only compatible with Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista. Buy one every year to load photos of a particular school year or family memories, then enjoy as you decorate the tree every year.

Now don't expect miracles with its 1.5" LCD screen which has a screen resolution of 128 x 128 pixels, but for a gift, this is great. This BLACK FRAME VERSION of the Digital Foci Pocket Album holds as many as 74 pictures (depending on size, in JPEG or BMP format) with its 8MB of Internal memory. It has a battery life of 9 hours, rechargeable via USB or USB-AC power adapter. You can set it to scroll photos manually or run an automatic photo slideshow. Comes with Windows 2000-and-up compatible Photo Viewer Software. Pocket Album measures 2.2" x 1.6" x 0.5" and weighs only 1.2 oz.

RECOMMENDATION: I highly recommend buying PDA (Palm pilot) plastic screen protectors and cutting down to size to cover this LCD display to protect from scratches. Alternatively you could use clear packaging tape, but the screen protectors are inexpensive and peel off easily to be replaced. These protectors are also great for digital phones, cameras and other small electronics with LCD screens that can be scratched but need to be seen. SEE MY RECOMMENDATION FOR UNIVERSAL SCREEN PROTECTORS ON THIS GIFT LIST.

When my mother and I were looking for the perfect gift for her mother's 90th birthday, I found this beautiful photo clock. We added eight 2X3 inch black and white photos to coordinate with the smooth silver-tone finish with black accents. The clock hands themselves are on a raised center portion, giving a three-dimensional elegance to the clock that was unexpected but welcome. It measures approximately 11 3/4" x 11 3/4" x 1" and requires one AA battery (not included, but I recommend including one so it can be used right away). All in all, it is timeless, durable, sentimental and beautiful- just like Grandma!
