I'm not going to lie to you and say that porcelain birds are hip and trendy. In fact, I have no idea why I have recently developed a possibly unhealthy fascination with them. I am NOT collecting porcelain birds -- I am not. I am not going to be the old lady with hundreds of porcelain figurines around the house collecting dust. And I will not move on from birds to cute little bunnies. Will NOT. But maybe just one pair -- one pair of really cool porcelain birds. Not that porcelain birds are cool...

Hella Jongerius chose the Cardinal bird #304, designed by Anna Soennecken-Beckmann (ca. 1910-1914), and covered it with the decoration from Empire coffee pot form #925 (ca. 1830).

Retro, Italian, and out of my price range. Dang - probably the coolest of the bunch.

This guy is bright blue, which would be a nice pop of color. Most of my other picks are white.

Ok, honestly, these are the coolest of all the porcelain birds I've had my eye on. I really think I want this set - so don't buy it. Give me a little while to save for it -- or better yet, buy it for me. Doesn't the turquoise color make them cool? Please say yes. Otherwise, I'm just the crazy lady who suddenly fell for porcelain birds.
