'Bitch' Grenache Wine 2005

Description

After hunting this stuff down for over a year I found a bottle. 2006, but Bitch nevertheless. I wanted to keep it on display for a year or so because I just wanted it for the bottle anyway (I'm shallow like that) but I couldn't resist. I opened it the same night and found out that I abhor the taste of wine (or at least red wine). I drank it anyway and kept the remaining 3/4 of it in my dorm freezer until my RA found it and confiscated it. So I spent about 13 bucks on it (just for the bottle) and now I don't have it at all.

Bottom line: I'm going out to find another bottle and this time I'm keeping it because it's so darn pretty and cute... that's why I recommend it :)

I'm a big fan of Tempranillos from this region in Spain, particularly 2004 and 2005 vintages. Thanks for the tip about the importer! That's a bit like using ratings to buy your wines... you know, find the reviewer who's palate is most like yours and then buy whatever they like... works for Importers, too!

A great chablis-style chardonnay under $20. Racy and crisp, I can drink this stuff all day long. You can sometimes find it at Costco for under $14.

2004 Joel Gott Zinfandel

Description

Joel Gott makes amazing Zinfandel. The reserve is just north of $20 and is mind-blowing. For $15, the 2004 Zin has nice fruit, but is elegant and balanced. A great value.

Big, chewy, long, in-your-face cab that tastes like $50. Buy it up! It's my house wine. Also, try the Shiraz and the Sarah's blend (Cab/Syrah). The 2003 was #87 at WS.
