Cootie-Catcher Note Cards

First to recommend

Description

If you added up all the hours I spent at recess playing with cootie catchers I've probably lost at least two weeks of my life to these tantalizing time traps. But had fun doing it.

Come to think of it, they'd make awesome party invites for a retro party or class reunion....

"Your fortune unfolds . . . Does he like you back? Will you be a star? Do you dare to know? Everyone's favorite folded, flapping, fortune-telling device does double duty as a set of colorful and inspiring note cards. These whirly-swirly writing papers include folding instructions for transforming your note into a super-cool cootie-catcher. Three designs are already printed with fortunes, but one of them is left blank-after all, the future is in your hands! 16 sheets, 4 of each 4 designs, with 17 envelopes, 7 1/4 x 4 inches, in a drawered keepsake box "

Razor Pocket Mod Electric Scooter

Description

May I introduce my favorite thing EVER so far this summer?

Ok, here's the scoop:
My 7-year-old wanted one of those ride-around Barbie type jeeps. I looked at them and a) couldn't figure out how her rear end would fit in it and b) couldn't figure out how much Crisco it would take to free mine if I took it for a spin myself.

So I looked around. And found this.

OH MY GOD do we all love it! So much so that I bought another for my ten-year-old and- wait for it, wait for it.... ONE FOR ME! Yep! Now we have our own scooter gang and we troll the 'hood every single day.

It runs for a little over half an hour (rechargeable battery powered) at very crisp speeds, is very sturdy (enough to not only support me but also my safety-helmet clad 3-year-old meatball of a son who sits between my knees) and is really durable.

I even included a family shot to illustrate how cool it is and how dorky we are.

And there are a few color options. We have this candy pink one, a minty green and a seafoam green.

LOVE THIS!

Crumbs Bake Shop in a Box

First to recommend

Description

From the cover, you may get the impression that this is simply a cute bake-your-own-cupcakes set for kids. Well, it is. Cute, that is. But you have to open it to see just HOW cute. Oh. My. God. I've seen a lot of these all-in-one sets and this? By far one of the best ever.

First of all, the author's credentials set it apart. Mia Bauer is the lady behind the incredibly successful chain of Crumbs bakeshops- those of you lucky enough to live in L.A., New York or Jersey may be familiar with her delicious creations.... like the FlutterNutter Cupcake- vanilla spongecake with marshmallow buttercream filling, frosted with vanilla buttercream that's mixed with real peanut butter and THEN drizzled with white chocolate and edged with white sprinkles Um... yeah. YUM.

So I was so excited to find this kit for kids in a local bookstore. Mia has created an adorable character named Lolly LaCrumb and written a book detailing her many wild adventures. Even better, the book comes complete with wipeable recipe cards that provide easy-to-follow instructions, stencils for decorating (hold the character-inspired designs over your cupcake and sprinkle your topping of choice), kid-friendly measuring tools... oh and so much more. I just can't say enough about it so I'll stop before I try to.

Perfect birthday or holiday gift for the little girl in your life- or for yourself. Really, the cover doesn't do it justice. SO much cuter in person!

7' NASCAR Air Powered Hockey Table

First to recommend

Description

Having just spent the weekend with the offspring at a waterpark that also housed a mega-cool arcade, I'm all about fun and games this week. Specifically, air hockey? Why? Because I kick ass at it.

In browsing for tables to put on my wish list for Santa, I came across this beauty. While it doesn't have my boy Jimmy Johnson on it, it does have everything else you need for a good time. Except me of course.

ABC Name Print

Description

My son has been crazy for the alphabet ever since his brain developed enough to realize he wasn't a squirrel. Or Elmo. But a real live boy. So this is perfect for his room.

It also holds a sentimental spot for me because when I was pregnant with my first a decade ago, I used to get overcome with guilt that I wasn't waddling around with classical-music playing headphones slapped on my belly like the books said I should do or constantly rubbing and singing to my navel. Whenever that feeling hit, for some reason I always broke out into the only song that would come into my head- the Alphabet Song. Yeah, pretty creative, I know. Sigh. To this day, singing it will calm all three of them. Had I known I would have chosen something even more comical for my performances, like Free Bird.
